There's a thing I have been pondering for a while.
Why are all the best baddies English? The extends, and was highlighted, in Hollywood movies. I'm guessing use of tone.

There's something of a discriminatory background to it. Anyone with bad teeth, scars, non-perfect Hollywood face, is seen as bad. It's why there was a fuss (rightly so) with Malik whatstisname as James Bond villain who had facial scarring

1 1/2 Days of the Condor.
Will try and watch the remaining 1.5 days tonight. So far so good. They are all out to get Robert Redford, but my money is on the handsome, clever, ingenious CIA analyst.

Blacklight https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blacklight_(film) with Liam Neeson

Low budget, predictable, bit of a waste of time really. Small cast (cheaper), everything screams "watch the cost", "cut that out as it will cost". Only aspect that prompts any thought is how high profile actors like Liam Neeson get involved is this sort of stuff as they age, maybe as their typecast action-man profile doesn't work so well as they age and physically maybe more limited?

The Apprentice - the story behind Donald Trump's early rise to prominence.

I'm surprised the makers weren't shutdown but apparently it's all true and only one aspect was disputed. The makers were able to show this event was true.

It's on Amazon Prime, which may be a surprise. I'm not sure about this.

Iron Sky the Coming Race - Sky Cinema

What can I say ?

It has Moon Nazis, Hollow Earth, The Cult of Steve (Jobs), Maggie Thatcher thrown from a Chariot and Adolf Hitler riding a T-Rex

What else do you want, people ????

Oh, and the special effects are surprisingly dazzling too

11/10

Just watched this. We'd thoroughly enjoyed the first one but had been put off by rather pooey reviews on here and a fairly dismal 5/10 on IMDB

It was huge fun, very well crafted, good tight script, rather well acted and played totally straight despite the total silliness. At the risk of giving a few things away, there's a magnificent a chase scene with Maggie Thatcher, who is actually a lizard space alien, driving a chariot pulled by a triceratops - and yet it all makes sense in the consistent internal logic of the film.

It is of course all completely silly and ridiculous yet it is so well done, deeply satirical, and very very entertaining. The CGI is superb and used to help tell the story / set the scene, unlike a couple of modern "blockbusters" I've walked out of, where it is just boring spectacle. Made for $17M which is really not a lot these days

Maybe 11/10 is slightly overpraising, but not by much

Saw the second Avatar movie last weekend at the BFI Imax, and just for fun, it was my first 3d film (i'm ignoring the season of movies that Channel 4 screen in 3d in the 1980s with red and blue cardboard and cellophane specs).

Loved it, although i reckon half an hour should have been left on the floor of the editing suite.
The 3d worked amazingly well; a v immersive experience that i really enjoyed).

Now I'm all caught up for the 3rd film in a few weeks.

Together - 9/10

A brilliant combination of body horror, love and comedy, built around the serious subject of codependent relationships. Casting Dave Franco and Alison Brie really drives the believability of the sacrificial nature of the relationship, much as it did with John Krasinski and Emily Blunt in A Quiet Place.

Not for the faint of heart, but one of the best I've seen in a while.
