Apex, on Netflix.

I liked Charlize Theron very evidently enjoying her mission to show that 50 year old women can be seriously badass!

She did a lot of the stunts herself and had got extremely fit so she could. She smashed herself up quite badly in some of them but said that she still had a fantastic time starring in the movie.

Plot holes everywhere, such as her GPS losing signal with a vast, clear sky above her. The baddy also was apparently able to move on foot at ridiculous speed in incredibly hostile terrain. Forget all that though, and have some escapist action fun!

I watched this too a few nights ago, was ok, nothing more.

My partner jumped out of her skin a few times which amused me quite a lot 🤣

Also couldn't quite get Elton John as the baddie 😁

Watched (a fair bit) last night but didn't get on with it.

Most Ms Theron film I enjoy but for me this one was a predictable retelling of a story used in many films. I couldn't see much point in the film so gave up after 45 mins.

Honestly - I watched it and thought it was absolute dross. 1/10 🤷‍♂️

I wouldn't argue with any of that! I just wanted to watch something undemanding that wasn't too long.

I hardly dare mention that I went back for a second dose of Theron action dross last night - Atomic Blonde!

I promise that the next film I watch will be meaningful, true-to-life, and at least 2.5 hours long...

I watched a western last night, Open Range. 3rd time I've watched it but (to me) its excellent.

I watched that last night purely on the strength of you watching it for the third time. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise as I am a bit sick of Kevin Costner playing cowboys, but I really enjoyed it, what a great gunfight at the end!!!!! And Robert Duval is always good value.

Lots of good actors. I thought the big baddie played by Kim Coates was good**. He's the one that bragged about shooting the boy and enjoying it, then Costner shoots him in the forehead.
**good as in he made you hate the character.

Went to see Michael last night.

Not really a fan of his but enjoyed the music, came away with a different opinion of him after seeing the portrayal of his early life.

Hacksaw Ridge, a bit harrowing and demonstrates the incredible ability gor human beings to be passionate about life and keeping their integrity whilst showing the horror we are capable of endlessly it seems.

I have experience similar (GPS not reporting correct location). Sailing in Channel off Brighton and the GPS was giving solid position in Central France. Held to incorrect position through day until evening when it started reporting correctly.

Strange!

The only times that I had GPS problems were...
  • When I didn't have much clear sky around me because of tall buildings, cliffs etc.
  • Moving before my old Garmin Etrex had locked on properly to the satellite signals. The old technology seemed to get confused if the device was moving quickly before it had established its position. It was a pain because it was very slow to lock on - it sometimes took several minutes. My phone can do it in a couple of seconds now!
Spoofing GPS position data is relatively easy when applied to un-encrypted civilan receivers. It's possible you were being messed with by the type of tech-savvy person who enjoys creating that kind of mahem.

One Battle After Another

Very good. I was almost expecting it to be disappointing given all the hype but I really liked it.
We watched it on Saturday night. After the first ten minutes I thought we weren't going to get on with it, but once it got going we really enjoyed it.

I know it's full of knowing references to its source material, but did anyone else think that the whole being surprised out of your house in your dressing gown and then sticking with it thing was a nod to Douglas Adams?

As long as you are aware that it is a white-washed version of his life.
Typed with a level of irony.
