The original script and the finished film did include the the Chandler case, but lawyers got involved and forced it to be cut from the movie.

Ah, so I need to hold out for the director's cut. I'm guessing there were probably NDAs to protect both parties.

Spoofing GPS position data is relatively easy when applied to un-encrypted civilan receivers. It's possible you were being messed with by the type of tech-savvy person who enjoys creating that kind of mahem.
Bit off-topic but I was in the middle of the Channel with only a few sailing boats around. But it was during the early days of the Afghan War.

Version I've heard is that they could only get the rights to use the music if the story met with approval.
So it is a case of true story without music or a "nice" story with music.

Lots of good actors. I thought the big baddie played by Kim Coates was good**. He's the one that bragged about shooting the boy and enjoying it, then Costner shoots him in the forehead.
**good as in he made you hate the character.

I enjoyed that bit. I liked that they didn't drag it out, he just shot him dead, no messing

Yes, some great actors there.
Have you read Lonesome Dove by Larry Mc Murtry? If not I think you might like it

Apex, on Netflix.

I liked Charlize Theron very evidently enjoying her mission to show that 50 year old women can be seriously badass!

She did a lot of the stunts herself and had got extremely fit so she could. She smashed herself up quite badly in some of them but said that she still had a fantastic time starring in the movie.

Plot holes everywhere, such as her GPS losing signal with a vast, clear sky above her. The baddy also was apparently able to move on foot at ridiculous speed in incredibly hostile terrain. Forget all that though, and have some escapist action fun!

We watched that last night. A good performance from Charlize, and a surprisingly dark character by Eggerton. I was completely suckered in from the start by the supposed bad guy red herrings. It reminded me very much of the film "Deliverance"

Watched it last night. I felt it was OK, Nothing special.
Kevin Costner done some excellent films and some terrible one that might have been good but just wern't. To me I see him as being prepared to take on interesting projects rather than purely commercial prospects.

"Paul", from 2011, with Nick Frost and Simon Pegg.
When Sigourney Weaver turned up as 'the big guy', my mind nearly went into overdrive - ! 😍😍😍

Molly's Game on Neflix. Fast paced, entertaining stuff. Jessica Chastain very charismatic as the lead.

Nice nod to The Wire with Idris Elba in a lead role and the guy who played the lawyer Levy basically in the same role.

Titanic! Enjoyed this more than i thought i would...perhaps it was seeing the comeuppance [or downance ] of wealthy sobs, or the arrogance of 'its unsinkable' sink beneath the waves. I liked the defiance against the vile upper crust and the 'love' story was more about the human spirit refusing to be shackled.
Im often at a loss at finding watchable DVD's so when im in a charity shop i might purchase a few that might be ok [like Titanic] as theyre often 20-50p each and worth a punt. Anything truly **** gets binned to spare anyone else watching it

This is good advice. I'm the same with books. If a books is shyte it belongs in the bin rather than someone else having their time wasted finding out what your already know. They do go to the charity shop if I'm unlikely to re-read, or are OK-ish but not to my taste.

Well acted, OK storyline, but somehow just not great. Didn't engage. Made it to the end but afterwards wished I'd spent the time reading a book.

It was sort of trying to make a point about how US made weapons and ammunition are turning-up in Taliban hands in Afghanistan but it didn't come across as a major point as not too noticeably reasonable reasons were provided but easy to miss, etc. Or maybe I completely missed the bigger point?

Just bought 'The Boyfriend' on Amazon Prime.
A little known musical I came across in 1971 directied by Ken Russel. A charming ecapist 'plot' with many well known British actors of the time including Glenda Jackson, Bryan Pringle, Barbara Windsor, Georgina Hale and Twiggy who charmed with a passable singing voice and good skills as a dancer. ^_^

Is it as mad as his other stuff?
