Guys,
Time to change the drive train on my Paddywagon. Currently running the stock 44*16 which is a 72" gear. However I seem to spin out at around 20 mph. If I drop to a 44*14 (82" gear) would that be to big a jump, should I just go to (44*15) which gives a 77"?

Just has a word with someone I know who rides around that area. He has a 46*16 for general use, but also has a 44*14. Despite being flat you get in effect short sharp hills when you go over a bridge and sometimes the 44*14 can be a struggle. another thing to consider is that there is nowhere to hide from the wind and 44*14 into a wind can be very tiring.

I have a 48/15 (approx 90"), on the flat its decent, should have your cruising about 22-25mph without too much effort. Can hit 31mph on the flat, but not sustainable at all.

Not sure my legs are quite ready for a 90" gear on my 15 mile commute just yet..
Touche, bearing in mind what you said, I think I'll try the 15 first and keep the 16 freewheel side on just in case..
Ta very much
