What gig did you go to last night?

Okay technically Sunday...

Oasis - genuinely superb entertainment, event and atmosphere, played lots of hits and favourites, long set (available on Spotify for the order and songs), big smiles after and a gig with two of my children and tickets bought as a surprise for me

Richard Ashcroft - did a mainly Verve / Urban Hymns set and surprise of the day

Cast - okay some good songs, suspect if I had any musical abilities I may have appreciated them more

Saw Oasis at Wembley on Friday and thought it was crap - they were only there for the money - from £35 bucket hats, £55 t shirts.

Cast were ok
Richard Ashcroft was best of the gig

Oasis came on stage, little banter with audience, little interaction between them. Worst of the 5 times I've seen them

Somehow two foreign trumpeters (that'd be a friend and me) and an organist managed to fill Die Cathedral yesterday evening. The audience seemed to like it.

Saw The Libertines on Thursday at Bush hall.

Great little venue, good show but lacking a sense of chaos. But when they play the hits it's pretty damn good. Don't fancy seeing them in a big outdoor show at Gunnersbury park though - I'm sure the bars will sell plenty of throwing beer.

Public Image Limited at the O2 in Bristol. The tour is titled "This is not the last tour"; presumably a play on their song "this is not a love song" and a dig at farewell tours

Very good indeed. Lydon is an excellent front-man with actually quite a good voice and the pitching of his characteristic shout-singing was spot on and he has a great sense of phrasing too. The band and Lydon were very tight, musical and professional. Recommended - (providing you like that sort of thing)

After reading this back when you posted it I went online and saw they were lined up to play in Cheltenham so bought a ticket. Last night was the gig; you’re right, they were really good, a good show which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Texas at Sandown park. Good fun and she's got a hell of a voice.

Minus point for the people next to us who decided to bring their cooler box into the middle of the crowd and use it as a table for their full wine glasses. Thankfully plastic glasses, as it didn't take long.

Seeing "them" in London on the 27th. Evan Dando was just on the right side of endearingly shambolic last year solo but I loved it.

Apparently it can go either way...

There's new Lemonheads music out there, some of it very very good, and even with Juliana Hatfield.

The tour seems to be billed as "Come on feel" in in its entirety plus new songs and old favourites. I'm not expecting anything like what that promises, I don't think he has it in him to be that disciplined. If he's on a good day though, he'll play a lot of what he fancies playing, and whoever is in his band will have to keep up.

I, still, have a soft spot for 'Become What You Are' by Juliana Hatfield.

Black Honey again, in Kingston.

They're great, don't know why the shows don't sell out. Smaller venue than when they last played Kingston which made for a better show. Really good.

On Wednesday I saw Liz Jones in Cardiff. It was just her and her guitar at Paradise Gardens, a new venue for me.
Liz is a singer/song writer based in Edinburgh. She also has a band, Broken Windows, a roots,rocky, bluesy band.

When i went to see John Otway a few years back he was the doorman. It's the only time I've had a concert ticket checked by the act.

We've just booked to see Otway in Bristol in November !

We were in Gloucester earlier in the week and saw a poster. We were about to book his gig then thought "wonder if he's coming to Bristol as well?" and indeed he was

Whilst jumping the gun a bit as the gig is in a couple of weeks' time, we've just booked to see Misty in Roots, doing a 50th anniversary tour featuring the material froml their fantastic album "live at the countervision". Last saw them doing the original tour of this material in Aberystwyth not quit 50 years ago. It remains one of the very best gigs I've ever been to and one of my favourite albums.

For those unfamiliar Misty are a London based roots-reggae band who've been going from the 70s on and off

It's conveniently in Bristol too, as I'd previously passed up a chance to go to see them in London, in part because they weren't doing the Countervision material, and also a weekend in the big city, whilst enjoyable is a rather more costly night out once you add in a hotel night or two and 30% more for food and beer. I'd have gone for a Countervision revival though
