Saw Faithless at the Piece Hall in Halifax, iconic uplifting synth riffs, lots of interesting and fresh rhythms, not sure how much of the live band was in the mix. Dark enough by 9pm for the lasers. Grahame Park was supporting, great set with lots of old tunes without being too cheesy.

Know that's it not "last night", but amped to (just) discover that The Lemonheads are playing a gig in Amsterdam, during my upcoming holiday there. (8/9/25)
Booked.

Saw The Lemonheads last night in Camden.

Not sure if it was my managed expectations, but it was great. Evan was happy, so it was a good gig. No ranting or anything. Just him wandering onstage, emptying his satchel of books, crayons and pictures onto the floor, and straight into The Great Big No.

I think the structure of playing with a band (and especially playing a whole album) keeps him (generally) on track when he's on an up day, and the guys playing in the band worked wonders with the randomness that he throws out.

A few rambling nonsense stories, a weird interlude when he played the keyboard solo, a couple of forays into the audience, some false starts with covers of songs that the band definitely weren't expecting, but overall 90 minutes of absolute joy.

I loved it.

(If you can, get to the front.)

I have - over the last week or so - been re-acquainting myself with : Ray/C'mon/Car, in readiness. 🤘🏻

We are going to see Coldplay tonight at Wembley, I’m not a huge fan, but my son and daughter are and it’s nice to experience it as a family, I’ll report back tomorrow.

only been to the Piece Hall once on about 1990 (record shopping) and always thought it would be great venue... good to see it being used as one. :okay:

it was actually a fortnight ago but forgot to post...
the mighty Hawkwind in Worthing, a few days before founder and frontman Dave Brock's 84th birthday. The last time I saw them was in '96, so it's been a while. His voice still sounds like it always has. I'll probably never get chance to see them again so it was special.

My next door neighbour is a big Hawkwind fan and has seen them a few times. He persuaded me to go to see them with him in Cardiff a few years ago. I can't say I would bother seeing them again or buy their records (unless the album Silver Machine is from is recommended) but at least I can say that I have seen them.

Another pensioner special - Tony Christie in Settle Victoria Hall.
He acknowledged his significant memory loss (often with humour) and needed a bit of prompting from his band members with the chat between songs, but very impressive delivery of the songs and have to admire his voice at 82.
I'm a bar steward volunteer (head of QC) and have seen a lot of aging artists doing what they love, usually astonishingly well. Absolutely nothing would have induced the young me to go within a mile of this type of easy-listening crooner favoured by grannies; guess it's a sign of my age that I'm now seeing merit in music I would formerly dismiss.

The bands latest album is superb
