Yes and I bought some moisturiser the other week with factor 50 sunblock in it and that’s been another success.

Get the short sleeved jerseys out and we are all doomed.

A pretty minor fettle from me tonight. After last week's failed attempt to run the Varia upside down; I bought a proper saddle mount and fitted that tonight.

My Ridley Fenix SL has done a fair few miles over the winter, including a very wet Chirk 200km audax last month. It's needed a new chain, plus other bits, for a while and I lost the rear mudflap whilst going through a flood during the audax.

Over the past week or so it's had a thorough clean, new rear RAW Squiggle mudflap, new chain, Dura-Ace jockey wheels cleaned and greased and new rear Swissstop brake pads. I've also taken the opportunity to fit a pair of used Swissside Gotthard wheels with new GP5000 25mm tyres which combined are definitely lighter than the DT Swiss P 1800 wheelset with GP5000 AS 28mm tyres that I've been using over the winter.

That should keep it ready for Spring / Summer / Autumn use when it's a bit too cold and/or damp for my summer road bike.

After the rear mudguard on my Brommie gave way on yesterday's ride, I've removed it to see if it's salvageable. The two rivets/bolts connecting the bracket have given way and wobbled a hole in the mudguard.
I've ordered a new one which should arrive in a few days.
In the meantime, I'll ride it 'as is' as the weather is OK.

At the weekend: A couple of half link chains on jump bikes and a chain ring on one of the pair. The joining pins were an absolute pig as they were too long to be driven in with any of the chain tools I had to hand. I did nip back home to get a motorcycle chain tool but that brought problems of its own in pushing the pins in straight. Is there a special tool I should get for my toolkit?

While there I was also presented with a full-sus mountain bike with an odd noise from the back brake. On inspection both front and rear brakes have seized caliper pistons and the pads were down to the metal. I didn't have my micrometer with me so I'm not sure if the discs are knackered. Will have to go back and measure those. Stupidly it's cheaper to order full front and rear brake kits than it is to just replace the calipers, so I've been given the go-ahead to order those. Hopefully I won't need to get discs too as that will double the cost.

Test fit of the second hand SKS Speedrocker mudguards won on Ebay the other week. The previous owner had cut the fastening straps too short for my forks when using both parts up front, so I've been waiting on some hook & loop strip to arrive. Should do for occasional use.

Topped up the tyre sealant on the Spa audax summer bike. Also added a Carradice Harrop bar bag. At 4.5 L plus the 3.5 L of the zipped roll I should have plenty of all day storage options.

I also swapped in a J-tea layback seat post on the Spa elan although the saddle position gain ended up at only about a cm. Changed the chain as well since it was nearly at 0.75% and so far the cassette seems happy with it.
