My LBS rang to say my New Custom wheels (DT Swiss XM 421 Rims, Hope Pro5 Hubs, Sapim CX Spokes) were ready.
So I went down to collect; and fitted the new lighter tyres, TPU Tubes, light weight discs and Titanium bolts. Final weighing reveals just over a 1500g / 1.5kg saving on the outgoing set-up. Coupled with also saving at least 100g on carrying around 2 lighter spare innertubes) - so that’s 1.6kg plus saving essentially.
Also should mean the 11.4kg stock bike weight of the Trek FX-3 Hybrid: should now be well under 10kg with the already upgraded seat post, pedals, grips, seat clamp etc etc - and different Geometry (But also lighter) handlebars to come.
Going to be very interesting to see how much difference I notice in the riding. Climbing (All relative - this is Suffolk) and accelerating especially……..
