Time for a new pair of pads then. So took it a bit slower until I got home.
Quick change over to new pads, all done and dusted.
Which reminds me... I need to check the front pads on my CAADX. I would be surprised if I hadn't checked them before taking the bike to my LBS for a fork replacement in September but I don't remember if I did or not. Either way, I had better check that I have spares.

I know that the rear pads looked okay earlier in the year when I replaced the crappy old brake caliper with a different type but I will check those pads again too.

Weather forecast is SHOCKING here in Lowestoft today. So while it was dry early on - I hiked the Carrera in.

And admired the Red coloured highlights I’ve ‘built up’

I then unpacked my new £2, Anodised red investment. And spent a whole 3 minutes fitting them.

Which only leaves another 11 hours and 57 minutes of dross / indoor weather to fill today……

Given I woke up to a flat tyre yesterday on the gravel bike I guessed it's sealant was needing topped up and given its a bit wet outside and I'm not riding for a change, I've just did so. I had Peaty's in both tyres until the start of this year when I had a hole in the rear that wouldn't stay sealed so I changed it to Orange Seal. Peaty's is still in the front though and I'll have to get round to cleaning that out but for now I opted for the no mess model.

Lol, it looks like a 1970s faded photo.

Fitted some panniers to my KTM this afternoon, the frames were a bit of a pain to fit but pleased with the results.

Bags are roll top but lock which was what I was after. Made by Shad.

I've got Shad hard panniers and rack on my MT-03 and they work very well, the Shad luggage is well made, I wish I had gone for the roll top soft panniers, I might add the rear carrier like yours for a top box - hmmmm Dear Santa

The top box is a Givi Trekker outback, really well made box and nice and secure.

Plan is to load up the panniers and leave the box empty to store helmet gloves etc when we stop for a break.

Nothing major but on the train last night I noticed after last Friday's soaking I had some surface rust on the chain so I gave it a wipe down and lube. I would have done it last night but I was too busy with

Bled a set of Magura disc brakes yesterday for the first time. Turns out it wasn't the dark art I thought, although I didn't know Julie Brakes have a small pressure release hole on the top.

Bled the Magura MT8 brakes on the Fatbike today, very straight forward, they just had a tiny bit of air in them as I had swapped the connections as the bike was an import with front brake on the left - recentered the calipers as I had taken them off their mounts to put them at master cyclinder height for fitting and removing the syringe of brake fluid ( it stops fluid running out). Easiest hydraulics I've bled!!

With son no. 2 moving north I swapped the studded tyres with winter road tyres on a couple of wheelsets.

The Fulcrum 5's got the studded tyres as the freehub's 11 speed, suitable for his Columbus X-Wing cyclo-cross bike. The Carrera Vengeance magnesium road bike is 10 speed and that got it's winter tyres swapped onto an old pair of Bontrager X-Lite road wheels with a 10 speed freehub. The X-Lite's have been stored outside so had lots of cobwebs.

I have a game controller mounted on the bike that I use on my smart turbo trainer. I had stuck a Garmin mounting pad to the base of the controller and was clipping that into a Garmin stem mount. That turned out to be a bit iffy in use though...

The stem mount was held on with 2 stretchy bands. That is fine for a smallish GPS device but not secure enough for a much bigger and heavier controller. The controller kept twisting the mount when I operated its controls. A change of plan was needed...

I had a bolt-on Garmin out-front mount that I could use to provide a good solid platform for the controller. The problem was that the stick-on mounting pad on the controller was 90 degrees from the angle it needed to be at. I had stuck it that way because it was then neatly aligned with the bottom of the controller. Oh well, it had to be changed!

I unstuck the pad and turned it through 90 degrees, but now it sticks out at the bottom of the controller. It is doing its job, but if the untidiness of it begins to bother me I will have to think of a neater solution.

First use of the Triban flat bar for some time and I've left it in the shed overnight with the rear derailleur sprayed with about half a can of GT85 to free it up. It must have either been damp when last put away or got damp (outside shed) as although the gear trigger worked and the cable was fine for the whole run, the derailleur would change up, but not drop down to the smaller cogs. I only discovered this when I reached the main road and managed to get it freed up a bit with manipulation. By the time I got home it was only the smallest (11 tooth) cog that couldn't be dropped down to so out with the spray and I may have a proper look at it this week.
