So I decided to fit the new bottom bracket to the mountain bike today. SRAM Dub cranks are notoriously hard to undo, so with the chain off of the chain set, I wedged the non drive side crank on a crate of beer, then extended the 8mm allen key with an old pipe. Then sat on the back tire to prevent it from lifting, I heaved and pulled like crazy until with a snap it gave way, brutal but effective.

The cups were also a little stubborn to remove, but we got there in the end. After a clean up of all the threads i popped a new DUB bottom bracket in then reassembled the cranks, torquing them back up to 54Nm. Should all be good for a good few thousand kilometres.
