Fixed the same puncture twice.
Had a piece of flint put a large cut through the tyre making the hole in the tube easy to find and fix. The first self adhesive patch used (last one from an otherwise empty strip) must have been in the kit for a long while as it lasted for all of a few hundred yards before the glue stopped sticking and the tube went down and needed re-patching using the first from another strip.

The most annoying thing is that the tyre looks like it will need to be replaced - it's only done 75 miles from new as a replacement for one that had almost exactly the same sort of cut. The bulge at the bottom of the cut is where the tube is poking through the carcase so I've deflated it and will have a proper look later tomorrow, but I don't think a tyre boot will help.

Wasted an hour idly rooting through the various boxes in the Crypt of Crap to see if I could find enough spare parts to make an entire Sturmey-Archer AW. Defeated only by the lack of a HSA123 driver. Pah.

Yeah, you’re going to need one of them, pretty essential really.

Rookie error yesterday afternoon.. 🤷‍♂️
The front brake cable on my CX (mechanical disc) was fraying badly where the cable end cap had come off.
Quick check in the drawer. Yep. There's a new cable in its sleeve ready to fit.
Cut the old cable back past the fraying that I didn't want to pull through the outer cable..
All going well until I compared the ends of the old & new!! Yeo, you guessed it 😂

This was yesterday, Sunday at 15:45.. Leap into the car.. McGanns; closed. Rang a nearby mate. He's in North Wales (I'm in Northampton)
Checked Halfrauds and it's open until 17:00! I bought 2 cables..

Moral of the story? Don't be a plonker 😂

It wasn't me!
Checked the commuter for the commute tomorrow and noticed that the rear tyre touches the mudguard. Then I remembered a metallic "click" on the last commute, which I associated with a loose screw of the mud guard with integrated rack. Turns out: It was a broken spoke. Replaced it and trued the wheel.
