From the way this one sounds, I suspect not much of the original will come back! It does make electricity but the bearings are as stiff and dry-sounding as a bone. Probably quite rusty inside.

Finished the handlebar replacement on the Yedoo Wolfer RS by adjusting the headset and wrapping the bar tape.
The training ride showed that the handlebar is still too high for me.

Click came back this week from the pedal area. Unclipped one foot then the other and it was only left leg. This was after removing chainset and BB. XT pedals, so took left off, removed axel, quick wipe, injected new grease into pedal body. On tightening the axel into the body, all old grease get's ejected (do love SPD's for this). Click gone.

That's the thing with carbon frames - use them in the rain and they go all soggy and collapse beneath you.

Anyway. Bike dismantled, the frame/forks de-taped, cleaned, sanded and scrubbed with white vinegar for the surface rust. Next up, a coat of primer and another sand.
Anyone have any ideas on the funky down-tube shifter arrangement? There is a hole either side of the down-tube, with a single bracket brazed over the drive side hole. No threading on any.
Having been out-of-the-loop for a long time the SON dynamo hubs were unknown to me. Fascinating product! I very much enjoyed looking through their website. Thanks for bringing them to my attention.

Having finished, on Tuesday (posted here; #18491), the rebuild of the 'Green Bike' my attention has now turned to the rehabilitation of the 'Orange and Kingfisher Blue' bike(*).
As before there have been a few hiccoughs during the strip-down; primarily caused by 'Tool Loss' over the years & house-moves. Main annoyance was the missing Campagnolo 'Peanut Butter' crank-bolt spanner closely followed by the absence of the spanner to secure the female chainring nuts when attempting to remove the allen-key'd bolts. Latter issue solved; former still on the 'To Do' list...
As such - crank-removal apart - the bike is now a pile of bits waiting to be given a jolly good clean.
Happily after some time and considerablebrute-force care the Araldite which seems to have been used in place of Lithium Grease when the head-set was last lubricated finally gave up the ghost and it was possible to strip-down the unit / forks to its component parts and remedy the situation.
Latest stage attempted today was the removal of the original top-tube and down tube transfers. Not as easy as might have been hoped! The White part of the lettering was very easy indeed (Holdsworth used Helvetica Bold 'Letraset' for the frames!) but the red-enamel paint used for the box-lining of these letters was exceptionally well-seated! It took an hour or more per panel & per name with a newly-bladed Swann & Morton scalpel to prize / scrape off - very carefully - as many traces of Red Paint which lingered on as was possible. Only three names have been completed; the final one will be tackled on the morn.

For what it's worth, I've had zero trouble with any of my three Shimano DH-3N80 hubs over the last 18 years or so, and I think they're better than the original "tin can" 1990s SON28, which I also had. The SONdelux should improve slightly on the Shimano for weight and efficiency but (as mine proves) they aren't infallible.

Thanks for the link. It's interesting reading the article, knowing the places they are talking about. In particular the tunnel pictured is my way from the station to work and back, and the "RadExpress" building at the bottom of the article is covered bike parking: part of my job is making sure that it is kept clear of abandoned bikes...

The March of Progress continues.
Frame/forks duly sanded again, and re-sprayed with undercoat. I’m leaving the various dings as ‘patina’, innit. Unless anyone wants what looks like a pair of 27” wheels with tubs fitted, they will be going back on the bike after a clean & service.

Two new tyres fitted to the commuter. Rear Schwalbe Land Cruiser had warped. That said, its been on some years, but it wasn't running straight and being 2.0" it was a bit of a close one with the canti's and unless one was careful it would catch the pads - which isn't ideal.
Changed to Schwalbe Silento, urban type tyres in 1.75". There are still knobbles on the shoulders which will be fine for the bridleway and farm track, but the centre tread is more 'slick'.
Edit:- added bonus is these have the reflective sidewall strip which is ideal for commuting. Not that drivers look, but you know !

Relatively simple job of attaching three Blue Lug reflective 'triangles' to three bikes and testing their puff seats that will get used for camping.
