"Rocket ship" experiment of front Vel 50 RL (with latex tube and 32mm GP5000) wheel on Bolt ebike abruptly switched back to default wheel and 40mm Supreme before heading out after dinner, after the latex tube suddenly deflated while trying to attach Joe Blow Sport 3 pump.

Need to investigate another time, but guessing it's had a catastrophic join failure of the valve extender to the Vittoria tube. A new experience for me!

After my gear cable snap today I had to replace that. Unfortunately I had to strip the bar tape to access the screw plate on the bottom of the right shifter. On the ride my mate noticed something which has been bothering me for months, the hood was detached from the shifter. It was a split in the rubber hood getting bigger and bigger. So whilst I had the tape off, having a spare right shifter I replaced it for one with a nice tight hood. The left hood which was tight and I was going to leave, split completely when I folded it back to fit the new bar tape. So I fitted a new rubber hood I bought to replace it months ago as it had a hole in it, but it had stayed tight so I hadn't fitted it. That took some effort to get on, there must be a technique I'm missing.

After dinner I deflated the commuter bike's rear, put some sealant in and reseated it. Whilst I was at it I wiped down the chain and applied more drip wax. Its been that dry, I probably last did that in the spring 🥴

I noticed a strange click in my RH pedal (flats) whilst cleaning the chain. It only made the click in one direction, pedal rotation not the smoothest I will say. I let the pedal soak in oil overnight but the click was still there. I decided to disassemble the pedal to investigate
(Don`t try this at home). I discovered that one of the bearings was about half the size of the others in that race. Whether that was the cause or not I don`t know but why was one that much smaller I wondered, worn ? Pedal binned as I swapped pedals from another bike and new pedals on order for the winter bike. The pedals have done 6000 dry miles but of course dry also means dusty.

Inside my skull
I can build wheels, but not in a certain time!
I like to take my time doing stuff like that.

I am the same.

1. Lace and put away
2. Bring up to tension and put away
3. Stress relieve and put away
4. Final radial and lateral truing

Some may be combined in one session. But I try and keep each stage short before I lose focus or attention to detail.
