All the local shops & pubs are open as usual. Some of the shops look like they've been pillaged by the Vikings!
'spoons was a little bit quieter than usual when I popped in for a ruby and a few beers earlier, but still ticking over all the same. The staffing levels have been reduced by about 25% to save on wage costs, so the relatively low-paid staff are now getting hit in the pocket through shifts getting cut as a result of doomsters who are panicking and not going out. Most of the regulars are still socialising regardless, and are going to continue to do so.

As I alluded to in another thread, the Brewer's Fayre pub restaurant next to the Premier Inn in Alfreton, Derbyshire, closes today.

Surprise to me, because it is next to the Premier Inn, we thought it would remain open, even if others shut.

I don’t even get all the panic

everything ends and everything begins again.

I’m lucky I havent got anything even though having diabeties (any type im 1) means your immune system is a little weaker, neither has my housemate or any of my friends and the animal park I volunteer at a lot of the staff are asthmatic and diabetic (well type 2 nkt 1) there fine as well .

J find it ridiculous how France has started fining people that leave.

Netherlands are in semi lockdown according to my dad in what’s app. Pretty much what is shut here are shut in Holland plus there schools etc... already have

I feel sorry for people who have their birthday in the next few weeks or months. As there won’t be hardly much too.Like my
Housemate who has her birthday on the 30th. I guess I was lucky I had mine on the way 10th just before things started closing.
You and your friends are ok at the moment. Anyone with underlying health conditions are particularly at risk.
We have a lot of things shut down in Denmark, but its not a problem.
Having to postpone a birthday party is of no consequence compared to trying to stop this virus.

But that is the difference between the Danish point of view and English point of view at the moment. Not taking this seriously is a big mistake in my view.

If you wont stay at home voluntarily then I hope you wont complain when martial law is imposed.
You dont even need to stay at home. I am still at work. I have ridden nearly 200km this week and found tracks out in the countryside I have never been on. At work we are sticking to a strict 3 metre rule as much as we can. I went to the supermarket late in the evening and the shelves were full and the place was almost empty.

The atmosphere at work has become a lot more relaxed. We take breaks when we want so we are not in the canteen at the same time. Nobody appears to be kicking the arxx out of it.

The hardest thing I have found is trying not to touch things in the works canteen, you really have to think about it. But I have my own mug, cutlery, sugar and there is plenty of hand disinfectant gel around. Remembering not to touch your face is like not licking your lips after eating a doughnut.

But keeping away from people for a few weeks is becoming a pleasant change and not the drudgery, you would think it would be.

That assumes the PI has any guests

Neighbor a florist says the Dutch flower market has collapsed. The UK are the only ones buying. She will be out of work by Wednesday.

No. It's unlikely to effect me. I live rural. I don't have contact with many people. Neighbor called with eggs and spinach gave her 2 face masks.

Accrington town centre was struggling a lot to survive before this virus stuff. This not exactly enforced, but frowned upon if you don't shut down will have a devastating affect on small businesses. I notice the filthy takeaways and the germ riddled charity shops are still open though!
How's the pie factory doing?

Another neighbor rung a friend in Italy. Her friend says the supermarket shelves are now full. Everybody stocked up then on the non perishables. Bet next week the panic buying will be over and I can get some......

So what are you on about, going to the pub? Do you live in 17th century Eyam or something?
Obviously I got a lift there and taxi back.
