what is the worst day of the year for you !

It'll be New Years Eve for me this year. I'm working nights, and it'll be the busiest night shift of the year by a mile, yet new years eve doesn't count as a bank holiday so no overtime rate. All the officers on New Years Day earlies however will get paid double time for what is normally one of the quietest shifts ever!

Still, it could be worse, It could be me.

And guess who's in on New Year's Day in a day shift (I don't do nights)? ;) Kerching!

For me my worst day is any one when I'm working but not teaching. I think if it weren't for the cycle training I'd have taken early retirement about a year ago.

1st January for me,well the first five minutes really,
all that fake bonhomie,
What are people celebrating anyway??
It's a change of date, something that happens everyday
It's not like your suddenly richer/thinner/better looking etc
Nothings changed except the date:dry:

Hope. On 1st January we have it in spades. Reality kicks in later.

I don't have a worst one, but while none are that bad, not many are that good either. Life seems a drudge at the moment (mind its winter, i always feel 'grey' at this time of year).
Too much work (or time at work anyway), too much travelling, not enough jobs out there to easily do anything about it, most of the people we know have moved away from our area (perhaps its us )leaving us a bit isolated friends wise....this years just not been exciting at all.
But i'm a glass half full kinda guy, it s a lot worse for a lot of people, Ive got my home, family, health and a fairly good job.

I have to agree with Pennine-Paul. I always hated NY's Eve/Day when I was in my 20s. My mum used to make a big thing of it because she was Scottish, which was fine, but having drunken English women (complete strangers) trying to play tonsil tennis with me in the pub at 23:59 on Dec. 31st was always a pain. I used to push them away and tell them to come back on January 2nd if they were still interested. They never were ...

PS TMN - I hope things improve soon!

I have to say if I'm at a NY eve party which is usually at
the brother in laws I slip away to the loo at a couple of minutes before
the bongs of Big Ben then re-emerge when it's all over,

"Oh did I miss the countdown?"

Luckily the mrs is on a late shift on the 31st and the early shift on the 1st so we'll be at home
missing it all, Yay!!!

For God's sake.

How depressing is this thread?

I don't have a 'worst day' . Some have sad memories attached, but by and large every day is what you make of it.
I'm alive, fit, healthy, have enough to eat, a roof over my head and I'm not under threat of arrest for not supporting some local bigwig.

What's to be down about ?

Finally, an appropriate chance to quote Scarface: every day above ground is a good day.

21st Jan the day I had an accident at work, crushed lower discs in my back! left me in a mess: poor mobility, no job, house , marriage and lots of meds for the rest of my life, but discovered recumbents and this has given me something which I can ride again.

4th Jan 2013. Deadline day for my essays and assignments for my uni course. Also going to be a good day once it's passed and I've managed to submit all my work on time!
