Tulsa King is another series by the creator of yellowstone and im enjoying that too .

All4 App / Walter Presents - Cold Summer - set in the early 90s, and in a beautiful location.
It's not a fast moving action packed program, but it's beautifully shot, written and acted, 9/10 from me.
It was filmed in 2023, and is from book 1 of a 3 part trilogy, so dearly hoping for 2 more.........

Agreed about L'estate fredda. Having holidayed in Puglia, including Bari, last year it was nice to see familiar locations.

I keep an eye on RAIplay.it for upcoming series that Walter might show, but sadly there's no sign of any sequel (yet). I'm told by my Italian teacher that the novels are also a great read, with several (including The Cold Summer) available in English translation.

As it happens, I watched another Italian film also starring Alessio Boni at the weekend, this time playing Enrico Piaggio, the industrialist responsible for the original Vespa.

For fruit based viewing:
Your friends and neighbours is hitting the right tone in a 'modern life is rubbish even if you're loaded' way.
Also, if you've ever had to work with software developers, Mythic Quest is so much on point for seasons 1 and 2. After that it's dross and has been cancelled.
Shrinking season 1 is good. Season 2 doesn't really know what to do with itself.
Has anyone watched For all mankind season 3? After the season 2 finale I had too many concerns about where it was headed (into soapland, I feared).

I believe another fantastic series, Lolita Lobosco, is filmed down there as well - it does look absolutely stunning. I know Italy reasonably well, as my brother lives in Champoluc, very northern Italy in the alps, and we are fortunate to be able to house sit near Lucca - yet to venture much further south, but it's on the list, but need to wait til we can go out of school holidays really.

I had a plan to try and get hold of the books, I reckon they must be a good read.
I'm hoping as the series was only made in 2023 there is hope of a 2nd and 3rd series, as presumably that was the intent, but I suppose if viewing figures were not high enough then it might have been killed off :-(

The Enrico Piaggio film sounds interesting, this is the first time I have seen the lead actor in anything to the best of my knowledge.
Do you speak Italian, or are you reliant on subtitles like me?

Gratuitous Lolita and her Autobianchi Bianchina picture because, well why not.
This is pure escapism for me, so I save these for when I need a bit of a pick me up, or really have some time to sit back, relax and soak up the scenery - Tall woman / tiny car

For those unaware, she is married to Luca Zingaretti who is a producer on this show, and he played the long running Inspector Montalbano.

You will be pleased to hear that there is a third series of Lolita Lobosco currently on Italian TV which will no doubt be picked up by Walter in due course.

As you'll know, it's more tongue-in-cheek than Cold Summer, and I love the interplay between the Commissario, her sidekick/admirer Antonio and the lovelorn Eposito. Not to mention Bianca Nappi (also in Cold Summer) as her friend the sex-starved magistrate.

If you're into Italian gialli, I can also recommend (on Walter/C4) Rocco Schiavone and Il Cacciatore (The Hunter).

This is highly controversial, but I actually preferred Young Montalbano, and not only because of the exquisite Sarah Felberbaum, but I thought it had a bit more depth to it - plus Livia who is pretty 2D in old Montalbano, had much more about her - gutted they canned it after two series, highly doubt they could get the cast together again, who were ALL excellent imho.
Very much enjoy the books as well - I'm probably 80% of the way through them.

The last two books were never filmed, and it seems they may never be, as some key people have passed away.
There was a suggestion that Riondino could come into play him for the last two, but I would have thought that would be a bit messy with the other characters etc, well unless they did it with the cast of young montalbano of course.

The final Montalbano they did film wasn't universally loved, but I gather it was true to the book so.......

It's such an easy and languid watch, it's unique I would say. I had gathered there was a third series, but I think I am only 6 episodes through the current 10 or 12 that are on there, as I said I really ration them.

I randomly took out the first Rocco book from the library about a year before it was shown on C4 - I couldn't believe my eyes when the first murder happened in Champoluc - where my bro lives!
I obviously had to watch the series, and I must be honest the first episode put me off, he's a pretty objectionable human being.
However, I think he's warmed to the role, and they've let the character grow, and it's now must see television for me, utterly brilliant.
I still rue the loss (in the main) of Caterina though, and that has still to be fully explained.

Where do I start with The Hunter.
Probably the best program I have ever watched, and the quality for me, was kept and even exceeded as the series went on.
A comparatively small cast as well, and his right hand man for at least the first two series is the boss man in Cold Summer.
The tension, and atmosphere throughout all 3 series was utterly compelling for me, I look forward to rewatching it in maybe 10 years time.
There's not many programs I re-watch, or books I read again.

I have seen a snippit of a trailer for a film or series that has both Francesca Montanari and the highly talented Sarah Felberbaum in it, I'd love to see that if I can find it with subtitles.
Here is the Felberbaum with Riondino - she is even more astounding these days.

I'm with you on that. Likewise, I also prefer The Young Montalbano. Maybe it's because it was my introduction to the character / concept / books etc. And maybe because this girl thinks Michele Riondino is much more her cup of Rosy Lee than Luca Zingaretti.

Star Trek Picard - Series 2

I rewatched Series 1 recently so I could start Series 2, so far I'm not impressed as it seems to be just re-treading parts of the plot from the Star Trek IV and Star Trek First Contact films with a sprinkling of Q from The Next Generation. Now though I love both those films (and Q) I'm hoping that like Series 1 they can move into a more original story as Series 2 as I'm not really up for 10 episodes of nostaglia.

6/10 so far.
