Phew, i'm glad i didn't buy that wooly Holdsworth long sleeve number then! Someone on Sunday's 100 miler had a retro merino wool jersey on. He said he was comfy in it but you could see the sweat dripping off his cycling cap! He must've been boiling up inside.:heat:
Some people sweat more than others. A lot more. Merino is supposed to wick moisture away pretty well, so it will evaporate more quickly and cool you faster (if it's worn as the only layer). Not saying if that's true or not, but I have a merino t-shirt which I happily wear on a warm day.

I wouldn't worry about merino irritating you. I have pretty sensitive skin, but high quality merino is absolutely fine for me. Wool jumpers back in the 70s would bring me out in a rash against my skin.
