13th June, but only 15.8 degrees in the house so full winter clothing on...
Same here!
As for today; what can I say. Chucking it down, cold, windy. And forecast for the next 4 days is yet more of the same.
I've got next week off work, was planning major gardening, meh!
I did book a week in June annual leave ages ago, because last year most of June was dry and hot.
This year the 2 weeks hot weather happened in May

It annoys me seeing forecasts for the next week - all sun, clear skies, above 20'C ...
Comes the next week and we have rain, clouds, wind and 15 - 16'C. Nice weather mentioned above will be ... next week.
It's been like that since some time in April.

Exactly!

The weather forecasts are utterly pathetic most of the time - especially in hilly areas where predicting is more problematic.

Back to your point, we have experienced exactly the same. Constantly predicting ok to good weather a week or so away and then...

... as late as the first update on the actual day they show dismal rain & wind for the day. Yes, right, we can see that ourselves.

We have totally lost confidence in forecasters over the years with their wildy innacurate forecasts. We have been confounded both ways; cancelling things that could have then gone ahead and planning things that couldn't go ahead.

We are currently trialists of the Met Offices' latest advanced forecasting service. It is no better than the current standard Met Office service.

This bugs me too. I recall years ago the BBC stating openly that they were going to give us more "feel-good" weather forecasts. For example, rather than showers, they would say dry spells. Rather than cold they would say "cooler temperatures". A fresh breeze rather than windy. Sorry, but for those of us who want to know if we are going to get wet and cold if we venture out on a bike, or walking, playing golf, motorcycling or whatever weather dependent activity we might want to take part in: I would rather know the truth rather than some nonsense to make people who sit in their house/car/office all day feel good!

As for today; what can I say. Chucking it down, cold, windy. And forecast for the next 4 days is yet more of the same. And reading the (non feel good) forecast for the weeks to come doesn't fill me with joy. It seems to me that the weather gets worse year on year. Climate change for us in the NW of the UK means wet and windy. Seasons mean very little.

I don't think they give a toss about the impact that their rubbish forecasts have on end-users. Be they outdoor workers or outdoor activities enthusiasts. Apologies for being so fundamentally wrong are never given.

From what you've said you have a better chance of using nature for your weather forecasts. They can give as little as 30 minutes warning.

You do have to wonder if we will see a summer this year. Today, the middle of June, the temperature where we are never got above 13, the winds were horrific and add in a few showers.

It really is quite depressing.

Hopefully we will see an Indian Summer and not just the Astralmarias!
