Oysters definitely. And I really wanted to like them, too.

Taramosalataxx( and most Greek dishes are underwhelming to me to be honest.

Los Angeles, you can get some of the most tastiest Mexican food you can find. Tacos, Quesadillas, Tortas, Tamales... pilled high with refried, beans, ground beef and fresh veggies (inc. celery) cracking stuff. (not forgetting a nice Guacamole dip).
Baked Potatoes... hmm nice and fluffy with plenty of butter and melted cheese. Or doused in a hot spicy chilli.
Oysters with a dash of tobasco.. hmmm yum yum yummity yum.
Well tendered fried octopus and squid.. ravishing
My Chorizo pasta bake is legendary in my family circle and friends.
Freshly picked and cooked Asparagus dipped in melted butter and eaten with your fingers... food of the Gods.
Plain boiled rice cooked with a pinch of saffron.. ooh the smell is gorgeous.. oh oh oh or a French Bouillabaise...hmmmm
Hmmm diced Swede cooked with onions, mince, gravy and potatoes... absolute delish..
Caviar, lovely washed down with some Champers...
The more garlic the better.. garlic nan.. lovely to mop up all that curry sauce.
Surf and turf.. lobster and steak.. a great greedy indulgence. All that claw meat soaked in melted butter.
The San Miguel Spanish restauraunt in Greenwich makes a gorgeous Paella.. filled to the brim with fresh seafood... all washed down with an ice cold bottle of Alhambra beer. Their lightly seared scallops on toasted home made bread.. oh my word..

I don't enjoy coconut...
But love Chocolat, especially chocolat chip mint ice cream.

It was actually Hammond that said that.

OK. I have to admit my experience of Mexican food is from two or three restaurants here in Leeds so maybe not the best base my judgement on.
Last year whilst on holiday in the Dominican Republic I had some wonderful 'South American' food. Nothing amazingly unusual but it was all good stuff, better than good. The guests were predominately from Brazil/Uruguay/Venuzuela and they all thought it good too.

If you like your food, drink, music, art, etc in a more sophisticated and genteel manner then bugger off somewhere else but if you like everything to be top notch and lots of it - it's Texas, great place!

The single most disappointing culinary experience of my life was a traditional Afrikaans Potjiekos (pron. "poiky-kos") which was given such a huge build up by all concerned that I was forced to grin maniacally and express my ecstatic reverence of the dish when in fact it was a second rate stew.

To make matters worse it was served with "mealie pap" (maize meal porridge, something like polenta).

Which brings me on to polenta; whenever I am served that, I wonder if there is some "in joke" going on and actually no-one likes it but I am being cruelly teased into politely pretending to enjoy it. Yup, polenta is the emperor's new clothes of the food world.

Quite dreadful
Oh my word, gnocci with basil in a tomato sauce..:hungry:
Yes, I'm sure that the things that people wipe over pasta can be tasty. The fundamental problem remains....the pasta. How can anybody claim that a mixture of flour and water is in any way tasty? I'm stumped.
