Which food did you find the most underwhelming?

It's just meat in sauce.

Caviar definitely - was expecting something special to justify the price/hype.

Champagne too - utterly revolting.

Garlic. See those beautiful sexy young Mediterranean ladies, then after a few years of lacing all their food with that garlic muck they become wrinkled old crones dressed from head to toe in black as they mourn their lost youth.

hand cooked crisps at primary school... they were crisp shaped, but certainly not 'crisp'.

Oysters
Avocado (only fit for colouring baths and toilet pans)
Paella ( before anyone says I haven't had the 'real' stuff, I have, several times and always hoping it would be better than the last time. It wasn't)

and pretty much anything Mexican.

Me too. Had some once and didn't think much of it. It's a texture thing, I think I expected the beefyness of prawns only big, and it was more... sloppy. Like crabstick. Which I'm also underwhelmed by.

Champagne is another one for me too. I nice red tastes nice na slips down easily, Champagne is harsh and prickly.

Just as long as it isn't cooked to buggery so it is like rubber, it is ok. Octopus is the same, it is gorgeous when cooked correctly.

Both octopus and squid are nice raw in sashimi or sushi. Then you can be sure they are not overcooked

love all sea food, but as said before has to be cooked properly.
