Which months do you use your overshoes in?

Simple question. How far into Spring are you frequently using your overshoes?

I'm thinking if getting some because I'm getting somewhat cold feet on longer rides at the moment, but I'm not sure if I should just wait until autumn, depending on how much use I'll get out of them for the next few months.

I have Shimano ro88 road shoes fairly thin and affected by wind, ride a lot in the evenings and long rides at weekends. I don't tend to ride in the rain that often though I will frequently in windy conditions.

Will I get much use out of overshoes between now and the winter?

I wear them in the hope of keeping my feet dry when it rains, not to keep the cold out. Any month of the year if the daily forecast is really wet.

I'll definitely need then for warmth in the winter. A couple hours riding on a cold day/evening and my feet will be numb when I get get back home.

I use Endura neoprene jobbies.

Just buy some,you'll never regret it! I've been out riding in June,July and August suffering cold soaked feet,wishing i'd worn my overshoes.

You got the wrongs one's then.

Up to 9 months of the year, but not on every ride during the warmer months.

I use these and they are so quick and easy to put on, also nice and warm and seem to keep the feet dry.

Buy them now! You might well wear them for another couple of months.

Can I suggest trying them on in the shop before you buy, because some, like mine, are dead easy to put on (with a big strip of velcro) and others seem to involve an awful lot of faffing around. I can't imagine how you'd ever get the zipped ones on. I simply don't understand how cycling is possible in the winter without them.

i wear them whenever I've got my longs on because besides keeping my feet warm and dry it finishes the look. As soon as it gets good enough to go a bit shorter then i don't bother.

If you've got the cash buy them - they don't go off and they'll be there anytime you need them.

I have 4+ pairs of various thicknesses and resistance to water, as well as oversocks. Wear them as the temperature/road conditions dictate. Most cycling shoes are far too well ventilated for me so I'll be wearing one pair or another most months of the year!
