Seen Knopfler a few times, he's my favourite.

Way back on June 11 1988 at the Nelson Mandela concert Knopfler and Clapton played together on , Knopfler won in my opinion.

But Clapton was playing rhythm, Knopfler lead.

With that link in mind, it's often forgotten that Glen Campbell was a damned good guitarist too

Guitarist, singer, song-writer, producer (himself, Stray Cats, KD Lang, Paul McCartney...)

He played almost every instrument on his (Phil Spector influenced) 'Subtle As A Flying Mallet
And, he could produce a damned near perfect copy of the Sun Records style, as linked below
