So you're ok with riding in a hurricane? It's just weather, after all...same as any other weather...

I don't think we get Hurricanes in the UK, just the tail ends of whats come over the Atlantic, but having said that I've done some rides in the past where it must have been getting close, but its just weather thats all.

I remember that, its the only one I'm aware of, I think it was actually 1987, can you remember the name of the weather man that got it wrong? I was cycling then and probably was pedalling that day.

Not aimed at OP but in recent months I have heard some of the keyboard warriors state:-)

I don't ride in the dark/wet/cold/wind/winter/snow/ice/

OK I get the snow and ice thing; clearly dangerous without the correct equipment but some folk seem to put their bike into hibernation before the clocks go back ffs.

On the rare occasions I have considered not manning up and getting out there I have never regretted it and it brings a somewhat perverse level of satisfaction. Rule 9 refers. And almost every time regardless of the weather I see other cyclists out there! OK rant over....

That must have been Michael Fish reassuring a lady caller that despite what she had heard there was no chance of us being hit by a hurricane.

I was living in Sudbury then and went out to work at 0430 in the morning. The morning after the big blow there was a power cut and Sudbury was in total darkness. I went screaming down the hill towards the town on a motorbike and very nearly wiped myself out on a tree that had blown across the road. I stopped with inches to spare.

There's nothing 'awesome' about going out in all weathers. I tend to ride on the turbo on days when the rain is heavy or if the wind is much over around 18-20mph. There is usually a training element to most of my rides, and if the wind/weather prevents me training/concentrating effectively then I'm better off on the turbo.
