As I said, they are just ok.

What more would you expect at that price? Ultegra. If it gets bums on bikes that has got to be a good thing.

Dawes, Ridgeback etc make better bikes for similar money.
As I said, I was surprised at how clunkly they are when I looked at it. But you get's what you pays for.

They ride extremely well and it seems are very reliable, also according the the wife very comfortable.
No, they're not good value for money. Decathlon bikes at that price are much better value. And you're not far off the starter bikes for the main brands, which are better and which you can get cheaper if you time it right.

Carrera bikes are better value than Pendleton. But you don't get a wicker basket and a flowy skirt.
Nor did the bike we bought came with those items.

I love my boardman mtb - it is the oldest bike in my fleet and there's a reason why I've not got shot.
I love click'n'collect.
I love Halfords prices.
I love Halfords opening hours.
I love working on my own bikes - I love not having to deal with lbs knowalls and their bs attitudes to customer service (when I'm a diy knowall ;) )

tlh loves her Apollo bso which, grudgingly, I have to admit was good vfm and perfectly suited to her need, and the basis upon which it was sold to her.

Agreed. A friend's wife bought one.. I thought with all the hoohaa at the launch and with all the heavy advertising they would be fair decent bikes. They are just ok clunkers. Nothing more. There are certainly much better similar bikes out there.
steered tlh away from one in the direction of a better value Apollo. The 'salesman' did the same, after asking what she wanted to do with it, and he built the bike for her, and, shock! horror! try as I might I could not find fault with his work. And told him.

"Her new turnaround plan includes signing up Olympian and Tour de France champion Sir Bradley Wiggins to launch a new childrens' range."

Of course. Sir Braddles is the obvious choice for that role. D'Oh!

I have one. His Dad is currently riding it on the basis that if you're going to fall off as a brand new rider, do it on the beater. When our garage got broken into a couple of weeks ago, they didn't take it. I didn't know whether to be relieved or insulted.

Don't get me wrong I have a Carrear road bike bought second hand and build qulaity wise it's spot on especially for the 75 I spent.

I am not debating the quality of their range is better than some of those other low spec brands but they do have much better buying power over smaller companies.

Funny, Halfords is the one place where car drivers and cyclist can safely share the same space with one another.
