I had the "it's waiting for you!" alert earlier. I pressed the x in the top right corner.
Most people's experience with W10 has been positive from trawling round the forums. Those with problems tend to be the one's who shout the loudest. I found that it took about three days to settle down but now I would not go back. What I have read about Windows 10 has convinced me to ditch Windows altogether (for the second time) and go back to Linux.

I tried Linux a few times (I've got an old PC with it but I haven't switched it on for months) and I found it to be a bit amateurish and geeky. All right if you like fiddling under the bonnet, but not for me.
I understand it's nice to use, but the ridiculous privacy settings make me unwilling to use Microsoft if I can at all help it - it rather betrays their attitude and business model. It's "free" because you're paying for it with personal information.M

You can turn all that off either be selecting "Custom Install" or going to settings and disabling the data transmission features.I understand it's nice to use, but the ridiculous privacy settings make me unwilling to use Microsoft if I can at all help it - it rather betrays their attitude and business model. It still betrays the mindset of Microsoft, and I don't entirely trust them. You can turn all that off either be selecting "Custom Install" or going to settings and disabling the data transmission features.
Same here. I've been using Windows since version 3.1, but a few things have made me decide to switch to Linux (and use the WINE app if I absolutely have to run a Windows app):What I have read about Windows 10 has convinced me to ditch Windows altogether (for the second time) and go back to Linux.
Free and paid for with personal information is how things are now. I don't know anyone who'd pay money for Facebook or Twitter but most people I know are willing to give some information in return for a free service, whether they know they're giving it or not.I understand it's nice to use, but the ridiculous privacy settings make me unwilling to use Microsoft if I can at all help it - it rather betrays their attitude and business model. I have dual boot with Mint and thinking about adding Ubuntu. Unfortunately I use both Itunes and Basecamp which don't have Linux equivalents and I've not found suitable ways to use them using WINE etc. What I have read about Windows 10 has convinced me to ditch Windows altogether (for the second time) and go back to Linux.
