I've given up on this one. As a young man I had a touching faith that logic and truth would always win. (Yes, I know!)

These days I realise that the majority of humankind is totally unable to reason logically. There are too many examples to quote thoroughly but Climate change and the IS are examples where evidence is ignored in favour of belief, or plain greed. And no! I'm not about to debate these with people who disagree with me. Life's too short.

If it really, really matters you are left with one option. Kill those who are wrong. The law generally tends to frown on this solution. Although nations can and do get away with it, individuals largely don't!

As an example I think and have long thought the evidence on Climate change is a done deal and I bored all of my friends for over a decade on this. These days I feel we've screwed the pooch on climate and say nothing. If I'm wrong then great! The climate will survive over 400p/b of CO2 in it and we can burn fossil fuels until the sun cools. If I'm right then me getting onto blazing rows with people who will not change their minds will shorten my life and have zero effect on the climate other than a minuscule decrease in CO2 production courtesy of me.

Sometimes being right isn't the be all and end all of an argument and being strong enough to ignore logic is a winner. (Of the argument at least, although it won't change the facts!)

I am willing to bet that many of us on here carry illegal knives - I know I do!

As the blade locks into position the knife makes this item illegal

However when I poke to the local Police their advice was that carried as part of a tool kit in a container or pannier it would not result in a prosecution

I know it's difficult at the time but it's easier in the long run to let it pass. You were right, you knew this. Ignorance is bliss... so let the baby have his bottle. Not worth compromising your integrity.

As you get older you look at why you wanted to prove your point and it ends up it's nothing to do with what happened. I've been there and it's a good lesson to learn.
