Winter is on it's way. Which type of tyre / wheel combo would you use?

Clinchers with inners, tubs, or clinchers with tubeless set up, or maybe clinchers with a tub as a 'super inner'. Which would you prefer?

Clinchers, easiest to fix at the side of the road if you have a visit, especially when it's cold. Otherwise tubeless, to try to avoid visits.

Conti Gatorskin clinchers all the way for me. I've been using them for a number of years without any significant problems. They aren't the best for grip, but I don't tend to go full whack round corners in the winter. I can't justify spending the extra dosh on GP 4 Seasons, though CRC have them on special offer at the moment.

Wheels - nothing special, as winter usually trashes them. I'm currently using Decathlon 32 spokers.

On the all year round "leisure/training" bike, will swop the tyres for City Contact (28mm)'s from rubino 23's when the roads start to become frosty in the mornings and the gritters cover the roads with grit. Wheels are askium all year round.

I'll probably move to Vittoria when these wear down.

I've been using Bontragers for years, firstly the Race Lite HardCases, then when they were discontinued the A1's. I'm now trying the Schwalbe Drurano Plus, the A1's seemed to have better grip than the Race Lites but less puncture protection. I've got a Schalbe on the front of the Fixed and Im going to see how it go's.

I've just moved to the AW2 hard case lites, very happy so far, not running out of grip, and they claim to have decent puncture protection.
