When it is icy the ice tyres come out to play, otherwise it is the same tyres all year round - Marathon Plus. I've never even thought of using a different wheel for winter.
... maybe clinchers with a tub as a 'super inner'.
I`ve just bought a set of Marathon Plus and boy, have I noticed a difference. A lot harder work to get them rolling at the same speed as my Rubino`s, can`t believe you use them all year round - fair play to you!
I have in the past. It feels a bit odd, until you get used to it.This comes up from time to time. Has anyone actually done it?
Robert Millar used to do that on his winter training bike. He reckoned he never got a puncture even though the clinchers he had on were virtually treadbare. If I was commuting (Where a puncture would be the least welcome experience) that is the route I'd go down. This comes up from time to time. Has anyone actually done it?
