My old job allowed me to bride 40 odd miles a day (commute) two or three times a week.
I changed jobs last year and whilst that has proved a very good move, I am now only 10 miles from home, so have to stretch my ride to cover at least 30 miles in a commute.
I also travel a lot and have to carry a lot of "stuff hone" in preparation and upon returning from a trip.
As an example, this week, I had to carry in my laptop and some finishes samples (lumps of wood, metals and carpet sections) on Monday, so no ride.
Today I have to carry a different land home for a two day trip to the Netherlands and on Friday will have to return them.
Result is, zero commute miles this week.
I have reduced my target to 100 miles a week and have missed riding any miles at all last week and this week because of work.
But to me, right now, work is more important than ride targets, I can still ride at the weekends (most weekends) so can get my fix, just not my target.
