Would you reuse rimtape?

This is maybe a daft question but anyway ;-) On Monday I burst a spoke so the lbs is ordering a replacement when it comes is OK to pull back the rim tape at this point, put the new spoke and nipple in and recover or should I cut it off and get new rim tape. I think its a case of too many books! I've read one which says you should always use new rim tape

If the current tape has no tears or breaks reuse it. But if it is worn or looking a bit sad, use new, if you feel you have to.

I'm not sure there is a hard and fast rule.

I reckon it depends on the tape - the old stick down cloth stuff I would definitely replace whereas some of the plastic tapes are stretchy enough to pull aside to replace the nipple and then contract back into place.
