xbox 360 repair required

any recommendations?

cash is very tight, it is out of warranty so looking for a repair centre have found some online looking to see if any suggestions from you guys

if its the red ring of death then MS offered free extended warranties to 3yrs to cover this. As long as seals aint tampered with they will fix.

yh i can pay MS £70 to repair it. just wondered if anyone had any other repairers they know of.

search google, what is the fault with it? Had red ring of death ( fnaar fnaar ) and DVD drive giving up the ghost.

yh its the red ring of death a few days earlier it was freezing whilst in game then pop RRD!

There are "fixes" on t'interweb but they only prolong the inevitable. TBH, there's only one way to repair an XBox that suffers the RROD & that's reflow the GPU & do away with the X clamps that hold the heatsinks on.


MS screwed up on the design in a rush to get it to market.

I resurrected my XBox 360 from RRoD at the weekend. I spent £6.43

I bought bolts, washers and two new tubes of thermal paste and followed the instructions at the 'Instructables' website for replacing the 'X Clamps'.

Took quite a bit of faffing about at the final stage (tweaking the tightness of the bolts) but it eventually sprang to life and I have since played Forza 3 for hours at a time with no problems.

cheers, yh i intend to try this method assumingi have the xclamps which i have read they did do away with, on later models. good price on repair though cheers!
