I've seen an amount of AI rubbish on there; some easy to spot, some not. It seems to be infiltrating both the content and the comments. Sadly it's not just isolated to Youtube.
Of greater immediate concern with that platform for me personally is the degradation of the format to favour short-form, clickbait rubbish, games and other mind-rotting dross.. as well as odd changes to the search results that seem to offer you all manner of irrelevant crap (again, a lot of "shorts") before anything you might actually want to view.
I have however just discovered a firefox plugin to bin off all the crap so hopefully that'll allow me to eke out a bit more use from the platform before it likely goes the way Facebook and other lowest-common-denominator-driven sites (although I've just found another plugin to remove all content that's not from people / groups you're directly involved with, so cuts out all the rage-bait rubbish which is incredibly welcome).
Back to the AI thing, it's very possible that we're bearing witness to the slow death of the internet. It seems that many popular sites are being diluted down to meaningless piss with AI content - either people posting AI content or comments / content being posted by bots.
I've also noticed a worrying rise in sites created exclusively with AI, which seem to exist to game search results (presumably to push ads) with content that purports to be informative but actually is just total b*llocks. Presented as being from an informed / authoritative position, containing both relevant (subject-specific) keywords and management-speak type buzz-words, it manages to be very verbose and word-heavy whilst never actually offering or imparting any knoweledge relevant to the claimed subject or indeed having any meaning at all.
I've noticed a lot of these on cycling; with maybe 3-4 coming up in the top 10 search results for whatever I was looking for.
It's not hard to see how the internet will eventually be full of so much meaningless, contradictory tripe that even the factually accurate sources will be worthless as you'll have no way of distinguishing them from everything else.
This is potentially extremely concerning given the increasing appetite for revisionism by various governments and powerful individuals. While there have been AI bots pushing political agendas on many social media sites for years the rot really seems to be spreading to everything now.
One notable, very welcome exception seems to be traditional BB style forums like CC - presumably because they're so small they're of little interest..
