A trip to Emsworthy Mire on Dartmoor this afternoon. I was hoping to see Marsh Fritillary butterfly, but to no avail.
Saw a feeding Skylark, Heath Spotted Orchid, Marsh Marigold, Heath Milkwort, Ragged Robin, Bog Bean and plenty of other bits. There was a calling cuckoo that I didn’t see.

Seeing as it's now June I cut the back lawn yesterday.
Once done I spread some mealworms around the lawn and whilst we sat on the patio we watched a or of regular visiting blackbirds feast on them .

You must be recovering well if you're fit enough to cut the lawn. Had you done No Mow May?

Secured our bug hotel to the garden fence earlier.

We went for a drive earlier and ended up at Castle Ashby fishing lakes and whilst we sat on the grass overlooking the water a red kite swooped down and took a fish out of the water amazing to see , needless to say the word fisherman were not impressed.

Two robins shouting at each other in the garden all day.
Why ?

I saw a large flock of 30+ gulls soaring high up this morning . They seemed to be milling around feeding on insects , there were a couple of Swift's or House Martin's in amongst them . It is too early for flying ants .
