I recently just missed one of the Threave (Dumfries & Galloway) ospreys fishing and it just missed its target, otherwise I’d have had an image of it carrying a fish away.

Reed Bunting, there was a pair but ...

Happened across two fairly remarkable wildlife interactions in around 50 yards. First, came face to face with a crow and its young, feeding off some rabbit remains. The youngster was calling away to be fed but the parent seemed more concerned with filling its crop, tearing lumps off the carcase.like its life depended on it...we must have watched for a full minute before they both took off...

We walked another 50 yards to watch two GC Grebe battling it out over a female. Both males started toward each other slowly, head very low and outstretched, battled away for a minute, two nearby coots seemed infuriated by the kerfuffle and joined in. Female GCG sat back watching it all kick off

Earlier...a fox, smaller than yesterday's, Muntjac, came face to face with a stock dove but it was off before I could get my gear out. Very wood pigeon like but prettier, no white on the neck like a pigeon. Very colourful.

Lots of other stuff, too much (and some too mundane) to mention

Red kites swoop into the garden if anything looks tasty enough. The never land but grab as they come in low and fast. Too fast for a photograph and even on a video its a bit too quick to catch. But then I'm standing in a bedroom window just 8 feet away. I may try hiding and getting some shots from a better standpoint. There is always a warning though............other birds get out of the way a second or so before they come in.

Turns out I was wrong about that fox cub being an only child - there's at least one other: this is where one accidentally treads in a large ceramic saucer of water, the other appreciated the input of flavour from the first washing its feet, and had a drink.

Not to be outdone, mother badger arrived last night with two well-grown and very inquisitive offspring.

She then demonstrated a mother's love by scent-marking her child, i.e. wiping her arse on it.
