Thanks for all the replies - too many red flags for me - I'll look elsewhere.
I'm not looking for a project (and a costly one it might turn out to be). I was just looking for something as a cheap run-around and more or less ready to ride.

Thanks - only skim - read the listing but the year figures. Was probably a pretty pricey bike in its day; shame its longevity is undermined by the materials it's made from.

The world is awash with cheap used bikes currently so you shouldn't have too much difficulty finding something suitable; personally I'd be looking at steel tourers if you want a utility bike.
