Itching to get back on my bike's

1997 according to the listing.

Thanks for all the replies - too many red flags for me - I'll look elsewhere.
I'm not looking for a project (and a costly one it might turn out to be). I was just looking for something as a cheap run-around and more or less ready to ride.

Always got a few retro bikes in my garage next county down @Mazz

Shame you’re in Leicester - my FLBS has my ‘resurrected’ Carlton Mass Start up for £85.

What does the 'F' stand for in front of 'LBS'?

Thanks - only skim-read the listing but the year figures. Was probably a pretty pricey bike in its day; shame its longevity is undermined by the materials it's made from.

The world is awash with cheap used bikes currently so you shouldn't have too much difficulty finding something suitable; personally I'd be looking at steel tourers if you want a utility bike.

Anyone have any experience of owning a bike with a front brake like this? I've never seen one before. Are they easy to maintain?

I have a drum brake on my tandem trike. Had to have two brakes on the front wheel. The other one being a rim brake.

Vary low milage from new, but operated well. However never needed to take it apart.

Seems to come with the original rim brake, so could convert it back to the original. Or install the rim brake as per original, remove the rear brake and have both brakes working on the front wheel. Would give very good braking!

Well spotted, I didn't notice the rim brakes in the spares.
