After Tuesday's maiden century I was going to take it easy but... such a beautiful afternoon that I had to get out. Rode one of my regular 20 mile loops across the bridge to the south of the Island, along the coast then back inland. The return was against a ferocious headwind but I still just managed 16.1mph average. Pleased to say no saddle soreness despite the recent big miles. My Brooks has about 600 miles on it which I guess is why I am not even noticing it!

After yesterdays persistent rain was determined to go out this evening. Had a circuit in mind so decided to do that - 24 miles around the Ribble valley. Lovely start sun shining gentle breeze got to Longridge and set off down towards Knowle Green/Dutton/Hurst Green/around Stoneyhurst/ Great Mitton/Bashall Eaves ontowards Chipping back to Longridge. 2 hours 5 mins and it bloody hurts ! Still the rain kept off even though it looked threatening. Good ride - off for a shower now (the route is in the On Your Bike in Lancashire route 13)

Just the usual commute short commute, well almost. Last night when I got in from the club run my computer said 9994 so I couldn't resist taking the sirrus for a change this morning (I usually commute on a Ridgeback Velocity) so I could officially break the 10,000 miles barrier.

Ladies and gentlemen, I managed to overtake a roadie today
(Alright, he WAS stationary, but no-one has to know that...)
Need to get myself some new lights, too - the front one's stopped working somewhere around Trafalgar Road and the rear one's not bright enough - I barely saw its reflection in shop windows this morning. And I knew where to look for it. I'll have to visit my LBS today and find something decent (and decently priced, too).
Anyhow, an easy, breezy morning commute.

Went out for a 25km spin this morning from Selly Oak down to Rose Hill and a loop round Barnt Green. Had a muppet pull out on me on Pershore Rd on the way out but I had a feeling they would (Lifford Lane by the canal for those in the know) so that wasn't too bad. On the way back on the A38 passing the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, a car with 3 old dears in pulled across from the middle into my lane right in front of me - I had habitually moved into the middle of the left lane as there was a car waiting to pull out from the left as well. The Garmin shows I braked from 52km/h down to 25km/h....I was not happy about it and tried to chase them with the aid of a lorry to draft as they proceeded to do under 30mph all the way up to the Selly Oak triangle until they escaped with the lights.

Rant over...time to recover for this evening's 10.

Rubbish, had a visit at 8 miles, twisted my knee trying to get my left foot off the pedal whilst trying to avoid a kn0b on the phone driving a BMW who shot a crossroads, got stuck behind a combine harvester for 3 miles and I got soaked 5 miles from home. 25 miles BAH!

Only 11 miles but Mrs B actually got celeste out today after I fitted a new saddle, for a pottle down the Thames towpath, much stopping for Mrs B to photo swans, trees and egyptian geese, at least Mrs B has started riding again and hopefully young Master B will get her out when I finish my holibobs.

Had a day's leave for a trip out so went 20 miles east to Laxfield, then Heveningham, up to Bungay and back along the Waveney Valley. Nice day, 62 miles, large chunks of it on cycle routes, but I only saw THREE cyclists on the whole trip, two of which were elderly women on shoppers near Bungay and one was someone who popped out in front of me from a garage, went a few hundred yards and turned into what I assume was his home for lunch.

This time of year, the countryside in Suffolk is normally awash with holiday bikers. I saw plenty of holidaymakers cars festooned with bikes, just no-one actually using them!

Ouch sorry to hear that, was it a blue bmw, he tried to kill me last week; my language was a little blue but it got his attention at the last minute. I felt I had to apologise to the ped on the other side of the junction.

10 miles tonight doing small hills BUT fell off <sob> me new bike scratched!!! My own dozy fault I suppose you could say I had a clipless moment without the clips (i ride with trainers at the moment) but didn't stop going on with it. Just one charmer shouting abuse out the window while his mate drove W*nker... My foreign digits told their own story

my morning commute was first time ive helped a fellow commuter, female and nice and she swaved me down to borrow my pump.

on way back was flying at some points hitting 20-22 constantly on the straights (must remember newbie started out at 100kg and on MTB Decathlon Tribal Trail) overtaking hybrids and couple of racers.

Then bike started to fall apart, crank already had been making a noise, bottom bracket was clean and regreased by LBS 2 weeks ago, then rear tyre started making a knocking noise only when my weight on, checked tyre and spokes and no sign, think it might be rear cassette, and then in last mile my front derauiler went so couldnt push up to largest ring.

So now looking for a secondhand bike on ebay, now shall i get one or two new bikes!!
