I had an intresting ride today, had a SS follow me through the cycle path in clapham common, then I cycled a whole stretch with a single foot up to 20mph.. then had the SS overtake me, who i then later followed for 5 miles and took him right at the end. hehehe. kept my average up, and did my fastest time.

What's with the discussions kids? This is a thread for telling people about your ride today, not commenting/criticising/questioning each other.

EDIT: To avoid hypocrisy , my ride yesterday (since Virgin only came to fix the internet at 09:15 this morning) ended up being a 40 mile round trip where I left home in sweltering heat, saw dark clouds and lightning in the distance on the way, and returned on wet roads. 2 minutes after I walked in the door, a heavy downpour started...I felt lucky.

yeah but i noticed a fellow cyclist may be training the wrong way, and doing more worse than good when on recovery rides, so thought i'd let him no

I was out at 6am for 115km and back for 10:30. I go early to avoid the heat, it was a pleasant 20C at 6am but getting a bit warm by the time I got home. Club run tomorrow afternoon and 32C forecast... not sure I'm going to enjoy that!

A fast ride with the club (20.4mph for about 38 miles to the warm down, 21.2mph for the last 30miles) My feet got totally soaked from the surface spray/ floods we must have missed a heavy shower the roads in East Lothian were flooded. I got dropped in the last 10 miles which I averaged 23mph but I was well chuffed that I managed to pull the group back in about 2 miles later; got dropped in Gullane and caught them again in Aberlady.

I went out for a mixed short ride, did not really know what I wanted to do, it did not feel that hot but when I got home I was soaked!

Did the first 15 at about 20mph, just doing some bursts then going along at a snails pace but then I took off out of the village and just sat there between 20-22 then on the last 2 mile stretch maintained around 25mph, then put on a new lap and just took it steady for 2 or so miles to relax. Just trying to keep doing miles in preperation for 180 on sunday.

I'd like to be able to do a 30mph 25 mile TT like this 16yr old guy in Manchester wheelers.

33 miles today, 28 this afternoon at 16.5mph average...27 degrees, beaut

Just seemed to be able to go and go, steamed up the inclines, kept a respectable pace (for me) all the time. Mind, got a bit of a headache now
Plenty of traffic on the return leg at 5.30 - 6 pm...love that bit.

53 miles today, very hot and sunny in Londinum.. 32 of those miles are my normal Orpington-Greenwich-Orpington commute.. then instead of going straight home, decided to keep on going into the Kent countryside for a little rambling ride...

Well, my ride yesterday and the day before, to be fact-exact...
Did the C2C (Whitehaven Tynemouth) over 2 days, stopping over at Alston.
Left Whitehaven 10.15 (3 of us)... fairly soon became clear (after about 15 miles) that one of our number had bitten off more than he could chew... he soldiered on, but gave up at mile 65, got a B&B and arranged transport home for the next day. All this had meant we were about 2 hrs behind schedule (;) ) but me and other chap rode like the wind and made it to our overnight stop at Alston in good time (missed out Old Coach Road, as we were so behind time). Day 2 was a real blast, loved the hills, did Rookhope incline without getting off, and got into Tynemouth for 4.15 and a welcome beer. Great ride, whetted my appetite for more!

35 miles, a personal best for me, I should be well chuffed but I look at some other peoples rides and think meh.

So 35miles, 20mph average, the wind was quite strong today. I was going to extend it to 40-45 miles as I could still maintain 20ish over that but I thought no 35 is enough for a pb at the moment, had to turn round and go another way at one point damn chippings, knew I'd loose my 20mph average if I went on those buggers! and one on stretch on the way out I thought my tyres where going down the racket they where making, absolutely covered in tarmac!!!

Back from a 75mile loop, taken at a fairly sedate pace for me. Went East out to the coast and then up, stopping at Happisburgh where Kingdom was being filmed and then cut inland. It is so hot that it reminded me of cycling in March/April in Europe - bearable, but hot enough to need to keep your fluids up.

Tan is good
