Your ride today.... (part 1)

[Perfect Virgo]

A two hour flight to the north shore via the interior, covering 35 miles. A 15mph wind swung from tail to head during the course of the loop. I have just fitted a new chain and cassette which are making for nice smooth gear changes. This year's big budget for roadworks on the island means several sections of silky smooth tarmac and a few scored surfaces awaiting dressing. Winter's ravages will develop new potholes but for now it's good rolling. Cold but sunny to start but becoming overcast by the time I got home. Still a short-sleeved jersey in 8 degrees C.

28miles in rather windy conditions. Rained too. Not sure whether i ran out of steam or it was the cold on the knees, but the last few K were a real struggle. Set a PB for the distance though so quite chuffed.

62 miles today, was steady and flat with a few hills in, we had one puncture and some guy had his chain snap, wheel buckle and his rear mech snap off from the drop out!!!!, I think the hanger was gone too! 2 idiot car drivers on the road, not a massive amount of wind, was nice and steady just spinning for the most part.

Was well chilly first thing. 71.4 miles today. Luverly sunshine most of time except when a few dark clouds blocked it out and the temp dropped loads. Cycling into a deceptively strong and cool WNW wind 15mph for 30-35 miles. Hoped that for the run home it would be firmly behind but not a chance. It was a lazy wind to day so in your face which ever direction you cycle in. The last 8 miles it was definitely blowing from behind as few hedges, trees or buildings to get in the way so got the true wind which pushed me home at 24-26 mph, a nice reward after just over 60 miles with it in your face up and down hills. Quite a few cyclists out and about including a guy on one of those sit down bikes/go carts .

Lovely trip through Knutsford and around the edge of Tatton Park contemplated going through the dear park but stayed on the public highway along the Tatton Mile, back to Wilmslow through Ashley. Threatened rain but it never materialized.

Was my usual 22 miles along the usual cycle path from Dunfermline to Clackmannan, I tend to do that every day now

Nothing to write home about, bit of a headwind going, coming back was better and now I no longer stop when I get to the end, I just turn round and come straight back again

Rode to work today,found a Blackberry and reunited it with it's owner.

47k with Mr T, from Edinburgh to South Queensferry, where we stopped for lunch with views of the Forth Bridges in the sunshine . Returned home via the allotment to fill the panniers with several kg of runner beans, the last courgettes and the first pumpkin of the season

Long, boring & tedious. My riding partner wasn't only not talkative but couldn't climb to save his life... I was close to falling off the bike at 7 to 8mph on a 5% incline.

met a bunch today..

Today should have been a ride over the back half of the Dragon Ride but Alldepies couldn't make it, so myself and the Lardster opted for the good old Tour do Gower. Just as we got on the Clyne cycle path (about 200yds from my place) we encountered a rather large gaggle of riders coming in the other direction... with all the hellos and 'mornings being exchanged we had to turn around ask if there was room for two more...

It turned out to be the lads from the Port Talbot Wheelers out on a "God knows which way we are going" Sunday run.. liking the sound of it we tagged on to the bunch... and as is often the case, and much to our delight a lovely steep climb to start the day - deep joy

then we went onto the lanes across to Welshmoor, very quiet B roads - perfect!

we also noticed that one of the guys had a rather large saddle bag - on closer inpsection we realised it was a budding tester! considering their day was going to be a good fifty miles or more - chapeau to Dad indeed.

we then managed to get split from the lead pack and the following bunch, after about five miles or so we realised which route we should have taken we had to turn around so we could return the young lad who was with us (sorry but can't remember his name) back to the club. Quick phone call and we found they had stopped for coffee at the Mumbles Pier.

The Wheelers left for their return journey, so Lardy and me decided a pint was in order. Luckily, the Railway Inn is on the way home. An award winning real ale pub, well it would be a shame not to stop and sample a new brew.......

Nothing special, I went for a quick 31 miler before tea, the weather had been great all day and when I went out it when I was about 20miles out it deteriorated to hailstones! I left my gilet at home so I headed there and watched the Chelsea-Liverpool game. After tea I then cycled the 16miles back to the flat.

My first ride with the San Fairy Ann CC. I chose to join the Progressive Easyride group in Snodland and we rode up to Luddesdown and Meopham (mostly up hill) before stopping at the Vigo Country Park for lunch. Upon leaving, we headed down the scary Vigo Hill when my computer registered a mighty 32.6mph. The entire ride was 20 miles long and I met up with some really nice people. I now know that I need far more rides under my belt before I even consider racing.

As Fairweather has written a very nice ride today with a great bunch of lads. It was quite a sight to see a mini peleton coming along and going past, the temptation to jump on the back was too great so cheers boys for letting two interlopers come along.

What Fairweather has not pointed out was that we went a couple of miles too far before realising that perhaps the lads had turned left and had not carried on. Which meant the mile long descent we'd made earlier was now an ascent, and the steep climb we'd just made as quick as we could to "catch" the lads up was now a 40+ m.p.h. descent!
