Thanks. As an aside, the comment made concerning the locked church:
"..as the Churchwatch charity have pointed out, churches which are kept locked all of the time are far more likely to be vandalised than those which are regularly open, they are twice as likely to be broken into, and are even slightly more likely to have something stolen from them".
is very true.
I often leave my car at a trail head parking lot to ride and have had it broken into on numerous occasions with side windows smashed as the crooks look for anything of value, there never is, I leave nothing worth pinching but criminals being what they are, they assume if the car is locked there must be something.
Since the last such incident about 4 month s ago I now leave the car unlocked with the side windows slightly ajar and have not had it broken into since.

Looks a great ride. I’m impressed you have 412 historic relatives and Strava knows all about them!
Ta - it was a typical Suffolk & Norfolk ride with continual pedalling thanks to the lack of true downhills giving no chance to rest while freewheeling. Being the oldest child in the family I'm the historic relative, although there's only five of us so where the other 407 are I have no idea

Headed up river today to enjoy a spring day in Lonsdale. Perfect day, Goldilocks temperature and the wind had dropped. The only fly in the ointment was lots of others were out in cars and motorcycles doing the same thing. Actually, the other fly was the one I swallowed, the first of the year. Kirby Lonsdale was very busy with hundreds of bikers so I left the main road as I headed up to Sedbergh, instead following some single track routes through Barbon. I bypassed Sedbergh and entered Dentdale, heading up the gated road skirting the fell to my favourite bench. Unfortunately a family were there revarnishing it so I had a picnic sur l’herbe looking up toward Dent. Rather than drop into the village I headed straight up the Gawthrop climb which was made harder by having to stop for vehicles. Lots of meadow pipits, skylarks and my first wheatear of the year. Even Barbondale seemed busy today. I finished off my lunch on a bench overlooking the Lune valley before the ride home from Kirby. 90 km with 1110 m of climbing.

Pictures are of Lune valley from Halton, the rock bed channel at Kirby Lonsdale and looking toward Dentdale from the lunch stop.

Planned to do a Ronde Von Whitchurch today, but brought it forward a day due to today's awful weather forecast.

The Gods repaid our efforts handsomely, a stunning perfect 72 miles through Cheshire, Shropshire and Wales in spring sunshine with the trees in blossom.

Have to confess, though, that following hard on the heels of 70 solo miles in the Peak with youngest Tuesday on Saturday, today my legs are absolutely casseroled.

After the usual anxiety-sodden, sleep-deprived start yesterday was saved by a sedate waft on the Brompton once the drizzle had cleared - the necessary ride to the rings turning into a really nice, chilled 20-ish mosey in / around the city with a sublime jungle / minimal tech soundtrack.

As the skies cleared and the sun made itself known you could feel the collective mood lift and I had plenty of pleasant, fleeting interactions with others on the roads and tow paths.

Still lagging on the rings but it feels like I'm finally making some progress now the weather's better and I have more opportunity to get on them regularly. The boost from the exercise translated into more productivity once home - including giving the car a wash / clean for the first time in four years (no facilities to do so at the homestead), waxing a couple of chains and a few other neccessary, OCD-adjacent tasks.

Nothing remarkable compared to some of the epic excursions in this thread, but so important to me as it seems I've finally reached the lifestyle I've been craving for so long. While somewhat hectic and demanding life feels the best it's been for years :becool:

Yesterday's ride was an evening bimble on the Brommie around Old London Town from Chalk Farm, North London, after I'd dropped my granddaughter at The Roundhouse for a concert.

The blacked out parts were our walk, bus & tubes during the day..
First stop was Primrose Hill (no cycling, so I pushed it) for one of the best views across London..
Difficult to describe my route but, basically, it involved Regent's Park, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square & Aldwych thence back via Camden Market to the car.

A guesstimate was maybe 10 miles ish? Difficult to say while bimbling around the roads of Central London. I should have used the Wahoo...

Went along the Oxford Canal towpath from Newbold on Avon to its Northern end at Hawkesbury Junction on the outskirts of Coventry. 12 miles of mud and a couple of hundred yards of gravel

End of the canal:

Under the bridge it turns into the Coventry Canal:

Small offshoot to "Coventry Cruising". I bet that confuses and disappoints a few Coventrians:whistle:

I was going to ride back the same way, but it was quite hard work in places, so I went back on the road.

Is it legal to just park (moor) a boat anywhere one wants alongside the canal?

Out down the cycle path at about lunchtime for the now-default Thursday charity shop trawl / utility run; complicated initially by the need to re-position the Fuji's slipping saddle and adjust my arse tape..

Yet again no furniture was scored however it wasn't entirely unproductive. I dropped off the mishmash of cutlery I'd been donated / saddled with at one of the shops and have seemingly secured a well-priced, decent example of stereo mini system I've had earmarked for the flat but been unable to source locally / for a reasonable price.

I also bumped into my old Oxford neighbour working in one of the shops - I recognised her instantly and smiled; it apparently took her a while to place me (which is fair as I'm older and fatter with a more questionable haircut) but she then came over and we had a good chat... which was really nice

After bothering all the necessary outlets (and again failing to score any incense) I headed north for a bit of a dangle on the monkey bars, back into town for a nice Halloumi wrap from the greek place in the covered market, then home.

24 mostly sunny miles; still flying high off my novel living situation, the endorphine high resulting from the consistantly greater volume of exercise this has brought and an uncharacteristically solid night's kip

Out on the road bike today. Out to Croome via Pirton and back via Wadborough. 17 miles in warm slightly overcast weather. I am not as unfit as I thought I would be after not cycling since December, so can start increasing my ride lengths a bit more aggressively.

Just the one photo of the Chapel at Croome.
