Yesterday's trip to the homestead was kicked down the road in favour of a utility mince in the overcast and uncharacteristically warm autumn air.
The itinerary was broadly the same as usual, taking in the pick of the local charity shops and a few other attractions around the city. Highlights included:
- After passing me nice and wide the back end of a bloke's car revealed a load of Iron Maiden and other metal stickers - throwing him the devil horns elicited a cheerful horn-toot of acknowlegement, which was nice.
- Still no furniture scores, but after much deliberation I did buy a low-end-but-ostensibly decent suit from Oxfam.. whether that proves to have been a good idea remains to be seen.
- A bloke in a van who pulled out across the cycle lane ahead of me while exiting a garage put his hand up as I approached and reversed out of my way; unlike the pair of gormless tw*ts that did similar to me last week in the same spot. Of course he was afforded much gratitude for having the humilty to recognise and correct his mistake.
- I found some more improptu public gym equipment had been erected in front of some of the shops in Summertown so did some dead hangs / attempted a hanging L-sit off the scaffolding whilst watching the varied reactions of passers-by reflected in the window I was facing.
- I had a nice chat with various people on the tow path following
some wildlife rescue business that unfolded earlier in the week.
Chatting made me late as usual and had to smash it back to the flat to get my fighting pyjamas, then off to kickboxing before another reasonable ride home - encompassing some more dangling, a smattering of dips, inverted pull-ups / rows and a trawl around the shops for food. I stopped at the chippy on the way back and had a massive bit of cod (£10!) and huge pile of broccoli for dinner
Ended up doing about 42.5 miles which is the most I've done in a day for a couple of months; bringing the weekly total up to a near-PB of 180 miles, although I doubt I'll be able to push past that today. I suspect I'll be feeling all that over the coming days
