A lovely ride in Coverdale & Wensleydale last week with coffee and ice cream in Masham. Some tough little climbs and we got a bit lost!

A shorter ride today as my legs were a little sluggish from yesterday’s spin out. Out to Cawood, Naburn, Acaster Malbis, Bolton Percy, Tadcaster and home. Stopped at Bolton Percy church to take some photos, the Millennium stained glass window is stunning.
27 miles with an average of 14.6 mph.

Yesterday's little bimble on the Brommie was after a 10 mile hike around the Peak District so it wasn't very long! 😂

Still, all miles are good miles IMHO.

Ilam Hall

I Parked in Ilam, near the Hall, and had a bimble around the grounds before a trip to Throwley Old Hall; a place I've wanted to visit for ages..

Short but sweet ride in sunny weather but a chilly breeze kept it cool.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Steady paced ride for me today with 3 others as i am still not pushing the knee to hard until i know for sure what is wrong with it , the pain seems to be more under the joint constantly and as long as i dont hammer it then the pain is bearable .
I opted for mudguards after a night of rain although i was the only one who had that thought as I had to ride not to close to others or i got a face-full of water till the roads dried up.
from the meet up point it was 29 ish miles to the cafe at hoar cross hall then another 21 back with a nice bacon sarnie welcome after a lot of hills ( or it seemed like a lot  ) .I was on my old alloy baordman and there was a pinerallo , a willier and errm i cant remember so i was feeling a little outgunned but whats a guy to do but suck it up ?
Enjoyed the ride immensely and at the cafe stop i asked about this other guy i have mentioned on here who had been sending me bullying messages and it turns out hes a bit of a tw£t who has been doing similar to others .

Anyway , got the metric century in and just as i got home the heavens opened and a thunderstorm passed over so i timed it just tight

A fast group ride today. Thanks in part to a mate who's been racing all year. He actually was about 5mins late to the start but almost caught us before the coffee stop at 30miles; he appeared about a minute after us. I'm actually slower in the 2nd half, just, but he kept it at a high tempo. especially through to Kings Cliffe  Lol, I think I would have been faster if I had the guts to follow him at speed through the heavily parked Kings Cliffe village

An in between weather window, straddling a wet thundery week and the imminent arrival of Storm Amy was filled by this months 50 mile challenge ride. The wind was from the southeast so i decided to take it on the chin on the outward journey but take advantage of the flatlands around Cockerham and Garstang. The wet, tractor filled roads justified my choice of the Spa elan with its mudguards and big tyres. Through Inglewhite, I headed up onto Longridge Fell via the Birks Bank climb despite the road closed signs. I was afforded decent views of the Hodder and Ribble valleys from the ridge road before descending to Chipping and an early lunch. I had a fast for me return as I picked up the tailwind and pressed on to beat the rain. 85 km with 931 m of climbing.

Pictures from the gravel track to Glasson Dock on the way out and gritstone views from Longridge fell.

Today's plan was for the usual utility mince in the morning before the rains set in.

A fairly heavy week dictated a slow mosey, however an uncharacteristically carby breakfast of strawberries and yoghurt, plus a bit of a tailwind made for a quick trip through the city to M&S where some moderate bargains were had.

Then it was out the north end to the tow path at Yarnton and back in via the park for 4 and a bit dips (a new record!), a couple of chin-ups, assorted decompression-dangles and a variety of stretches since the serenty of the park made me in no hurry to leave.

Back into town for an ill-advised poke around the shops (spoiler - no purchases and lots of people). I did have a really nice chat with a very enthusiastic, cycle-positive couple when returning to the fuji to be greeted by their compliments on the handsome bastard - of all the bikes I've owned hands down this is the most popular with others.

My time wasted in the shops was made all the more regrettable by the rain I'd otherwise have missed on the way home; arriving back at the flat a bit damp but nowhere near as bad as I'd endured earlier in the week.

A largely unremarkable 18-odd miles today for about 160 for the week and still just above 600 for the 30 days; although the trend is downwards and this will doubtless continue as things become increasingly cold and dark.

Time for a Strava challenge ‘September Gran Fondo’ 🚴‍♂️.

Out on the Tricross at 10.45am, the weather looked decent all day, however the forecast was way off!
The heavens opened in Barlby, then Riccall, Copmanthorpe & Askham Bryan. I managed to stop and shelter a bit but ended up soaked through and feeling cold! ☔️ 🥶. I thought I’d warm up a bit at my cafe stop at Askham Grange, this is an excellent little cafe run by inmates at the nearby female prison, unfortunately this was shut!

46 miles in I ended up back at home for a coffee, sandwich and a change in to dry cycling clothes. After about an hour’s warming up I headed back out for another 26 miles, the weather was lovely now 🌞 and I managed to get some nice photos.

71.8 miles in total with an average of 14.9 mph.

£39 earned for Marmalade Trust, my works supported charity via the GoJoe app👍

Using up more annual leave today and I plotted a route down to the Manwel Farm Tea Rooms near Walgrave. I asked my semi-retired mate to join us, and he passed on the invite to another retired mate and my mate who is motor bike mechanic for a racing team and was back in the country. Lol, my semi-retired mate needed back for a dental appointment and the group made for an enjoyable but slow ride. Unfortunately my retired mate Di2 failed after only 2miles after the meet and he decided to head to a bike shop, leaving 3 of us to head to the cafe. My motor mechanic mate started to suffer before the cafe and my hopes it would revive him really didn't materialise. In the end my Semi-retired mate had to sprint off to make his dental appointment, and I hung back with my motor mechanic mate.
