My Sunday group ride today went down to the Giddy Goat Community Cafe in Riseley today. Started fresh but it warmed up nicely 🌞

I collected my new fixed-wheel frame from Richard a couple of weeks ago. It took a week to build it up, but it was ready for last week's pub run.
So I rode out to meet the others at Cranbrook, then we continued past the airport and a lumpy way towards Clyst St Mary. The road to Topsham is now partially bollarded against vehicles. B led us on a scenic route with sea-views to the pub.
It was dark when we left. I followed the OSM pair towards Clyst St George and the ford. I had a few teething problems and had to stop to adjust the front light. Caught them up once then had to stop again.
Finally got home with just under 50km on the clock, and pretty pleased with the new bike.

After a hectic, long and late ending weekend in Manchester watching my Son smash it in the Marathon - I decided to kick off the week by commuting in. And was shocked by frost on the cars at 4.30am when I walked the dog - prior to then swapping 4-paws for 2 wheels. *And planned fingerless gloves for full Winter jobbies. **Probably should have completed the theme with doing the same for the sleeveless jersey 🙄 Oh well…….

Jack Frost was about before I was:

I needed to go shopping: eating is a tough habit to break...

I live about five miles/8km from the local supermarket.

Fortunately the state government has built largely traffic free cycleways on all the main rivers in the state. It's meant for tourists, which can be entertaining occasionally when I find myself riding alongside cycle tourists on the way back from the shops: I get funny looks when I'm trundling along with a jumbo pack of toilet rolls in the bag.

2nd ride on the E-Boomerang.
The intent was 17/18 miles out to Clearbrook and back, with the motor helping especially much at the Leg O'Mutton ramp. Unfortunately, I need to be doing 4mph for the motor to kick in, and I'm nowhere near fit enough to do that on a light road bike, let alone this one...
It was tough enough to make me feel a tad unwell, so made do with where I'd got to, and resolved to do more but shorter rides, with a longer one every few, until a bit more fitness gained and a bit more weight lost.
There's no doubt, even at this stage, that the gentle electric assistance helps, the average speed shows that clearly. The only good thing about all these lumpy bits (ie the whole of Devon and Cornwall) is that most ot the BHF L2B is a flat breeze, even without assistance. Nonetheless, I must not forget I'm a decade older than the last time I did this, and much less fit.

My goodness. Pretty much the strongest, most swirling wind for quite some months 😳

But……….Sun was shining, it was warm, I was interfered with by the minimum of dopey car drivers and I got to finish my day by cycling along the coast.

**Oh: and new chain is good, new Lube is frickin superb, gear indexing is spot on after adjustment - and no creaks from the BB after yesterdays tinkering.

Life is good 👌
