Noticed earlier that no segments were showing on local club rides posted today.
Mines showing power and timings for for various distances but nothing else.

Couldn't resist the chance to ride today, even if it was my bread and butter ride through the Severnside villages South of Gloucester yet again. A pleasant Summer's day .... as opposed to the blast furnaces of late made for perfect conditions out on the lanes. I took my time over it and stuck as close to the river as I could, stopping off for some quality time gazing across the water in a number of my favourite spots. I passed through Epney and chose the little lane that follows the river bank through Lower Framilode and Priding before climbing up to Overton on my way to Arlingham.

I had a nice chat with a fellow cyclist when I got to my turning point at Arlingham. The next view is from there, looking across to Newnham on Severn:
On the way back I came across a scene I have been waiting to capture for years in the village of Saul. It always seems to be bin day when I pass through here, or else someone has parked a van outside or I have a car close on my tail. Today I was able to pull over and get a nice shot of one of my favourite local views:
Just before getting home, I pulled over to sit in the shade of a tree on the scorched grass of the river bank at Stonebench and I finished my drink slowly, watching various waterbirds floating downstream on the current. No selfies on this ride, though these are my feet!:
No bike pics from this ride either .... though I do have one bike pic to offer. I commented on someone else's FB page a couple of weeks back on the subject of the state of the roads in Lincolnshire, and I added a photo I took back in 2023. Suddenly yesterday when on FB, up came a post from "Road.CC" about that very subject and featuring my own bike! (Mine is the one on the left):
A tad under 25 miles today on my newly serviced Ridgeback Panorama touring bike, which was an absolute pleasure to ride. Silent running, smooth gear changes and much improved braking as well as a new tube in the front wheel. Smooth, quiet cycling perfection.

Had a nice leisurely 10 mile loop through Greenwich, then along the Thames to Deptford and back home through Lewisham, took a 10 min break in Greenwich park and watched a woman walking her cat on a harness get dragged through bushes and over fences by the very adventurous cat, which was pretty comical to watch!
Once again though, my only issues with any other vehicles were with a couple of idiots on Lime bikes, again reinforcing my stance on not riding in bike lanes unless I really have to!

Local ride today in pleasantly warm weather ☀️
Functional ride, tbh, to drop some stuff off at the charity shop then carry on to the farm shop & back through Boughton village.
So many local road closures at the moment which isn't a problem on the bike but the poor car drivers tgought that the big red ROAD CLOSED signs were just for show 😂
I had a chat with the lady who works at Chapel Brampton railway station & she kindly let me wsnder up the closed platform to see tge trains..
In exchange, I dropped a pile of leaflets off at the farm shop.. Fair swap, i reckon 👍

It's supposed to be the last day of good weather for now so I asked my mate who took early retirement if he fancied a ride. The only thing despite the nice warm weather, the wind changed to an easterly and the area east of Pottyboro in a headwind can be depressing as its that flat. Then my mate had a great idea, to take the train out to Norwich and get blown back. Despite getting lost in Swaffham (having to circle slowly), at another roundabout (where I was too busy watching traffic and not the map) and having to slow down on a really broken road we were 20.1mph for Norwich Station to Farcet (80.7miles). Then we slowed to a recovery crawl through town and after leaving him I remembered a KOM I picked up on my commuter so I went for it on my good bike. Unlike the rest of the ride it was wind unassisted but sheltered, so when I'm sure someone with a tailwind will beat it but it's fun to pretend you're fast 😂
