Felixstowe

Landguard viewing area for Felixstowe Port - especially when one of the 400m vessels is being berthed - or there's the fort & museum beside the car park.
At the other end of town is Felixstowe Ferry overlooking the mouth of the River Deben - an old fishing hamlet, now more a sailing area and some nice walks up the river by the salt marshes
Between the two is about five miles of promenade or beach access including the Sea Front Gardens
My other three recommendations are the A14 outbound, the train to Ipswich (do not stop and head anywhere after that) or the foot ferry from the Port viewing area to Harwich or Shotley when it runs.

Having had the misfortune to live Kingstown upon Dull for a number years I’ve never heard of him. I did ride with a Mike Pickering who as well as being a good bloke and cyclist worked on the tolls on the Humber bridge.

And there is Raby Mere. It used to have an electric shock machine. You put an (old) penny in, held the handles and see how much you could take. I recall our family of 4 linking hands and all getting equally shocked..... that would have been 1957ish.

I spent my childhood in Winchester. It changed a lot after the fast rail line to London came in the Sixties. Now, it seems a bit pleased with itself but it's still got places worth visiting.

Northampton:

Theres a Grade II listed sofa on a verge in Kingsley. In fact there is (or maybe was) a Facebook page devoted to the roadside sofas of Northampton.

A dog turd of outstanding natural beauty on a footway in the Mounts.

A dead swan of outstanding natural beauty floating in the Nene.

A Grade I listed supermarket trolley in the duck pond at Thorplands.

A local mime artist pretending to be an unconscious wino in the town centre.

A fantastic mystery zone in Semilong where no one speaks English, not even the English people.

You forgot about the anal museum on the road to Northampton.

It's actually a canal museum, but years ago some wag painted over all the C's on the signs leading up to it (in the correct colour paint and everything) and nobody's bothered fixing them, or at least not the last time I passed anyway. I wonder if anyone has even gone there and been rather disappointed in the subject matter?

I've lived in York for 20 years. In that time Ive never visited the Minster, the Art Gallery, the City Walls, the Yorvic Centre or the River Cruises. But I'm led to believe that they're good. I did go to the National Railway Museum. Which is nice, if you like trains.

I did in 1967, a school day out, with the art class.

However, I live within four miles of Brands Hatch and only went there once, over fifty years ago!
