3.5 fresh but enjoyable miles around Oulton Broad, Lake Lothing and the Normanston Pk areas near Lowestoft, Suffolk this Morning.

Mostly off-piste per-se. All very sloshy !

Bracing 3.5 mile seaside walk this Morning.

That stretched the muscles. And froze the cockles 😉

Several weeks of shortish walks, recently, but yesterday was an opportunity for a longer hike.
I eas intending to head to the Peak District for a hike I've already routed: Castleton, Msm Tor, Winnats Pass & Cavedale. The weather made it impractical, sadly; thick fog at altitude & generally dreary.
Still, I thought a bit of a coastal jaunt would be nice as, after checking forecasts, The Wash seemed worth a visit.
I left home early and was parked near Sutton Bridge by 05:00,still dark, obviously, and walked th le initial 5½ miles on country lanes with a few footpaths across fields, to the northernmost part by sunrise.

All of the seaward side of the Charles 111 Coastal Footpath is a designated Danger Zone where the RAF practice shooting at moored hulks & stuff. Not yesterday, though, unfortunately! 😋

Needless to say, I kept to the footpath 👍

There's several WW2 pillboxes in the area plus the lowest Trig Point I've ever bagged.. 12m.
I actually had to walk down the dyke-side to reach it 😂

Once back at the car, I fired up the stove for a coffee & pasta snackpot.

A pleasant 12¼ miles with a stunning 55' of altitude 😋

Once walked, I got the Brommie out of the car for a bit of a bimble around, including Sutton Bridge, that I've driven through so many times but never explored. Nice little place!

Icy start to the day so put the boots on and walked near Sizergh Castle.

Pictures of Coniston fells and Langdale pikes from Lyth valley plus snowdrops which featured heavily today.

Knackered but not wanting to waste the nice weather I donned the walking boots, grabbed the camera and aimed roughly for the woods; which were predictably boggy in places but still a very pleasant place to be.

Only a few miles in I was already starting to feel worse for wear and curtailed the loop a bit by heading through the valley back towards the city, before skirting around it via a familiar nature trail. This looked great for the efforts of volunteers in recently replacing the board walks; which did a great job of keeping me out of the mud.

This would have been a good opportunity to get some shots of the city / flooding from a distance, however I only had the wide angle which was far from ideal for this particular task.

Past the last place the ex and I lived, then into town past a load more flooding which thankfully rarely impinged on the path. Scored a few small things in town and had a bit of a crack at some impromptu street photography.

Considered getting the bus back but the faff of waiting seemed worse than just plodding back. Glad to get back as my feet were really feeling it and I felt generally ruined, after what was apparently about 11 miles. Had I expected to have gone that far I'd have taken the GPS unit to log the route... never mind.

While nice to get out it was somewhat bittersweet as this was the first time I'd walked some of those routes since I left the city last time about six years ago - prompting thoughts of how things had changed in the interim for both good and bad.

Despite the cold it did actually feel legitmately like spring for the first time this year which couldn't help but lift the spirits

Definitely enough outside for today; very much happy to be back in the warm, dark burrow resolutely alone.

Spring has well and truly sprung in our local Woods (Gunton, Lowestoft, Suffolk -in which the plants, paths and general wellbeing is tendered to by local volunteers. And is an AWESOME facility)……so today’s 3-mile walk was a Nature extravaganza 😍

Normally on weekdays: me and the dog walk for *3 miles or 1 hour - every single day (*Whichever comes first).

I’m an upbeat person - and don’t often get depressive about anything. But February can’t literally ‘do one’. I surely don’t need to explain how miserable this Mornings (Failure - on either of our standard ‘targets’) walk was 😕
