It will work, but isn't perfect. this is due to tb Bkool not having a power meter. The best way to make it work most reliably is to unplug the bkool pro after you've logged in to Zwift- this resets the trainer and it works more realistically.

A more upmarket trainer would serve you better but there is a cost downside

The Qubo wasn't perfect. Is it 'just' a case of the Bkool's power figures being a little out? Less so with your fix? As far as I'm aware it's a smart trainer that will give me a power output (up to 1,200w) and change the resistance on hills (up to 20%). I realise it's not going to be bang on as long as it's somewhat realistic and gets harder on hills then I'm happy, is that the case?

Remember I'm coming from a bargain basement Qubo, I don't expect it to be a Neo.

The power can be as much as 80W overstated, but usually 20-40W. The 20% is not even in the same ball park. I would say 7-9% max depending on your weight. If you're a heavy rider, then it will be nearer 7% before no more resistance is felt as the simulator gradient goes above that figure.

Resistance will vary and give you a decent experience in Zwift. Zwift have done a good job with their Simulator to give realistic speed figures .

Just don't get too depressed in your performance if you upgrade to a Neo or Kickr. These do have resistance upto 20% and 2000W

Super, thanks Andy. Kind of what I expected although I did get a little excited at the 20%! Still 7-9 is higher than the 6 on the Qubo and at least I know it's 20-40 out so I'm already aware. Sounds exactly like I expected and will do what I need it to.

The aim is to upgrade one day but no time yet. I think I'm getting a good deal here, the broken trainer cost £250 (so I know lower end machines), this was in the sale at £285 and I don't have to pay any extra. On Wiggle this model is £350 so I'm cautiously optimistic about a slightly better riding experience. Certainly can't complain anyway.

Again, thanks for your help!

This is fair to say in the BKool sim, but on Zwift my Bkool Pro and Kickr are much more compatible so as long as he is mostly/only using Zwift he'll be fine and have an enjoyable time. He'll also be compitative in Bkool obviously, although as we know the watts and speed will be high. If your budget takes you this high and you don;t want/need a top end trainer then the Pro2 is fine. You could also look at the Kickr Snap which I think is well thought of but not sure of the price of that.

And you can calibrate the snap:okay:
That's what I was thinking ... if same price and you're not bothered about BSIM and only plan to ride on Zwift then it's a viable option. But if he wants BKool BSIM too then might as well go Pro2. Sounds like only Zwift though so the Snap looks a good deal.

Hey Whorty. I'm limited by the availability of the supplier who don't stock Snaps.

An update, order has been changed to the PRO2. With the sale price of the PRO2 it was close enough to what I paid for the Qubo to not have to pay any exra for the replacement. I paid £250 for the Qubo last year which broke and I'm getting a brand new PRO2 for nothing now, I think I'm getting a decent deal.

Haven't had a dispatch note yet though...

As for the Bkool software, it's a no from me - only Zwift. I may see if there is a free trial with it or something because I'd love to try a real-life route once.
