There is another club event (Coventry CC) on the longer course on 4 October, the equivalent of the event Martin and I rode last year. I won't be there, though - I've got Monsal the following day and don't think I've got enough chits from Mrs M to cover it.

Good luck today @Legs. Can't make it for various reasons. Might have a bash on 4 Oct though.

Post up how you did :okay:

This morning went even better, ninth in the Open event on Watership Down against a strong field. It’s a short but technical course, with a steep start, an almost-flat middle section, then a long and quite straight ramp towards the finish, which steepens as it goes.

Check the power deployment and my W’bal depletion here:

I need to learn to trust that I can change down gears when the chain’s tight - having shifted up on the flattish bit, I found myself really grinding the last 50m!

Im feeling like another one of those Swift Epic races today. 17:30 right up my alley - super flat but beggars can't be choosers, I guess.

I did an Epic Race yesterday for the first time. 28km mostly flat, then a climb then 30km mostly flat. As a group C rider I tried to stay with the main group (including As and Bs) which turned out to be a terrible idea for someone with no endurance at all. Dropped before the climb, caught by everyone behind me in group C and absolutely died on my arse. I think there was one person who died worse than me, but even they were catching back up at the end.

That sounds perfectly normal for a first Epic race. Well done. They are good for endurance.

Yeah, that's the route I did too. The As were riding like pussies so most Bs and a few Cs were still there at the foot of the bump. About a dozen or so As and just three Bs after the hill though. Managed to beat the other two Bs and all the As at the finish. Sprint wasn't bad but I feel I lack explosiveness.

The As tend to go nuts on the first bump on the Epics.
I have found in the past that B races can be more fierce than A
