It's because zFTP isn't the same as 20 minute power. It's CP - what zwift calls "roughly what you can do for 40 minutes" which is obviously going to be lower than what you can do for 20. So yes. They literally ARE harder because you can do well over 3.4 for 20 and not get booted out, but in the days of ZP Cats you couldn't.

As someone who can do about 3.1 for 20 at the moment, I think it sucks

Yeah I appreciate that's the reason why. I guess there's winners and losers from the changes as those riders who aren't getting upgraded but would have previously are probably having a lovely time! (It's still quite a flawed system whatever way you look at it though)

100%. I replied to your post, but it was meant to be adding to your explanation rather than “at” you

I still think vELO is about the best we have, but even that has annoying limitations. vELO 2 is being worked on though

No worries Alex ^_^

Yeah I agree vELO is the best so far (and it annoys me that Zwift haven't adopted it!). Interested to see what vELO 2 will bring

Another race ticked off stage 3 zwift unlocked , 25th of 70 odd on the road ,19th of 54 on zp . Managed to hang on to the front group until 1.6km to go when a gap opening in front of me and I was too slow to close it and annoyingly the group sat at 1 to 2secs ahead but no one in group would work to close it me included I think we were all on our knees . Went at 200mts in the sprint but got rolled on the line for 1st of the 2nd group . Power was almost exactly the same as stage 2 and have to skillfully gamed zrs as my score has gone up to 389 and 390 is used as the dividing line between cats in one level

Here you go, Michael!

It was amazing yesterday; the support was incredible and the noise was deafening on the steep part of the climb. Just the best experience I’ve ever had being on a bike.

I didn’t actually have a great ride - I did 3:05.1, 478W average, 110th out of 296. With the form I had a few weeks ago I’d have expected to have been 10s faster relative to others around me, but it doesn’t really matter; I was mainly there for a Good Time, rather than a good time.

My brother and I were off only minutes apart so we were able to get this shot after the finish. 😁

Well done Tim - I watched the video Andy posted last night and the atmosphere looked fantastic! Do you think you'll do it again?

Can anyone enter the hillclumb championship?

Do they do a return to base leg? 😁

It might be something to tell the kids, I was in a national event

Did you see the winner 700+ Watts for 2mins. And he was sticking his tongue at the little kids half way up.

Successful little pootle about in NY today, managed to finish the Everest challenge and complete the upgrade path of the Specialized bikes on the same ride 🙂

Annoyingly, I did the Zwift Camp Baseline rides a few weeks back and as a result they put me in C category (I was mid D previously), which was a surprise ( there’s no way I would be competitive in C)

Meanwhile I entered the Dolphin Crit to help my anaerobic numbers

Came 3rdZP in a low turnout event 4th on the road.

Stayed with 3 strongest riders till last lap where the wimner(was a shoe in @300W/20mins) left three of us fighting for the podium. They blew me away up the cobbled climb. Enjoyed being back doing crits

How rude of them to hit the afterburners with 1km to go.
You looked pretty comfortable there for most of that race. Good to be back 🙌
