Needless to say he was off the front solo in each race. Because he'd had a break from Zwift racing over the summer, his data was reset. It isn't a ZRS issue only. Happens in other systems too. If you're an Emerald in March, unless you've had a bad accident or something you're not going to be down to platinum in the same year. It just goes too far.

Returning riders should not be allowed to drop that far.
Had exactly the same situation in a race I did yesterday. D pen, which was supposed to be 180 to 350, had one rider get a ten second lead over a chasing pack of about 15 other riders within the first few miles and he stayed away for the entire race, winning it by four minutes, doing an average of 3.5 w/kg for an hour.

Looking at his profile, he'd been back on Zwift for a week or two, so should have had up to date power figures, but hadn't done any races since March. However the ZRS ZwiftPower add-in suggests that his racing score is now somewhere in the mid 400's but it only went up by about 20, meaning that if true, surely he should have been above the 350 range at race start. Very odd.

Oh no, turned on everything to do the 1610 GMT Brompton race and my ~3.5 year old Saris H3 isn't flashing the green pairing light, while the little green light on the power brick lights up.☹️

Gradient resistance went very liight while doing a longer cool down after Saturday's Tiny Races (was at ~40% during races), but a calibration through Zwift worked ok and I've not tried to use it since until now.

Might be the power brick and it looks like they can be ordered from Amazon, in the meantime, I'll put a fresh battery in my 4iiii and see how much power range that gives me.

£20 power supply arrived, plugged it in and got a light on H3 unlike original supply, but it's red instead of blinking green to pair.

Means the H3 is in bootloader mode, but the Saris app doesn't see the bootloader to connect and re-install the firmware.😭

Have you tried turning it off and then on again?

Yep, as well as different socket on the extension, plus plugging H3 directly into wall socket.

Tredz have H3s for ~£280, they are exempt from Tredz restrictions for ~7% British Cycling discount (applies to Garmin, Wahoo and Tacx iirc).
They also have the Elite Rivo for ~£440.

Seen Decathlon do a Rysel D100(?) for ~£200 without Zwift Click, but the slope emulation is quite low (6%), H3 has 20% and my OG Direto had ~15% iirc.

Only other offer of note I've spotted is Thinkrider XXPro for ~£200 after discount codes on AliExpress, ends at midnight tonight I think, ships from UK. Wary, but tempted, as really could do without spending ££££ on a new turbo right now.

3 laps was a lot, although it made for a great workout. In terms of outcome it was pretty much the same as the previous race, same podium who were head and shoulders ahead of everyone else when the road went uphill but a good front group of 15ish.

Paul Bram and I did pretty well, team finished 4th on the day which is our best result so far. @bridgy had the worst kind of technical issue. May be too soon to talk about it as it was fairly devastating! Still TT'd to the end ahead of a group who had been behind

3 laps was a lot,

4 too many. That second climb up Fox really hurt. First time up we went from 42 to 12, but a group of 8 got back and then we were 20 starting second time up.

Then it split into bits on climb 2 with the front group being 9. I was in group 2 which was 4, then 2 more caught on and we became 6 near the end.

That's most of the climbing done, but we still have NY KoM right at the end of race 6 Empire Elevation.

Ah yeah I'm still traumatised by that cock-up! Not really a technical issue, more user-error I think!

Basically, I just got distanced as we went over the top of the second climb of Fox Hill, along with Bram. We held a 2-3 second gap for a while on the descent but eventually the group of 14 ahead did a mass anvil drop and pulled away. Bram dropped back, and I and found myself with one other rider, 23 seconds behind the front group. We worked well together though to close the gap and amazingly we caught up to the front group of 14 again towards the end of lap 2.

This is where things went disastrously wrong for me! I must have somehow clicked on the other rider on the leaderboard and so was watching the race from his perspective. Not realising what I'd done - and no doubt with a fuzzy head from the exertions - I was confused and thought Zwift had glitched or something and was showing me but in the wrong kit (silly in hindsight I know). Long story short, by the time I realised what was going on, I'd dropped off the back of the group by 12 seconds with the final climb approaching fast! How stupid of me!

The group with Bram in was 30 seconds behind. I managed to maintain that gap up the climb, so all I could do was hope to keep that group at bay for the 9km to the finish and hold onto my 14th place - which I thankfully did manage to do.

I'm going to reassure myself that I'd probably have finished last in the sprint finish of that front group anyway so it made no difference in the end (except for making me work much harder on my own over the last few km!)

Well done Michael on your excellent 4th place - you're climbing really well at the moment! And well done Bram for coming second in the sprint finish of your group so coming in 16th. As a team we came 4th which is our best finish so far

Had a bit of fun doing the Brompton Virtual World Championships on Zwift last night, because I was getting home too late to do ZRL.

Wasn't able to keep up with the pace of the leaders in the first few miles and as the pack got all stretched out, gaps opened up and I was on the wrong side of them. However I did manage to catch back on to the second group on the road and held on (at times only barely!) to them for the remainder of the race.

By the time we approached the finish, our group was down to seven (had been 10-12 at points) and we all went for it on the sprint for 23rd place and I guess we were evenly matched, as 1st through 5th all finished within SEVEN HUNDRETHS of second of each other, with the other two being within a further two tenths of a second. Now that's what they call a close finish! (I came third out of that group BTW)

You missed a fun ZRL race last nice. Twice up Fox was very vom inducing! The team came second on the night and we're up to 4th in the league. Personally I managed to hang up to the lead group of 7 or 8 (apart from a flier who left us for dead on climb 2) to the end. I was on my last legs so no big sprint left in the legs - I went early but couldn't hold off 4 others who jumped me on the line.

Getting my fitness back bit by bit.

Anyone here using a Van Rysel D100 turbo?
Do you race on it in Zwift?

Currently one would slightly weaken my race sprint on a good day, but given I'm currently racing in the weakest or second weakest pen, wondering if it would be a good budget option (15% Blue Light Card discount off £200 basic D100 or £280 D100 that comes with Zwift Click V2).

Are you looking forward to the Glasgow Crit race in week 5. At least it's only 7 laps this time.
But all segments still count. (ZRL semi-finals flashbacks to just before your long break.)

Talking of flashbacks, I looked up an old friend of ours. This was Tuesday in B dev...

I thought we'd done well with 5 in the top 11 and 6 in 16

We had some fun back then didn't we? I definitely need to get more fitness back, and hopefully get below 80 kg (been saying that for 2 years now lol).

I can't do the TTT next week, so I'll be focusing my training the next two weeks on the race 5 points race. I do love a crit, that surge and recovery.

Had an annoying dropout last night , jumped on a banded ride to do a zone 2 ride with company on a route I hadn't done before "Climb Control" . Lovely ride with a music quiz thrown in . As we Approached the route arch I had a drop out and rolled to a stop 26mts short of it ☹️ ,so no route badge . After having a few dropouts a few months ago everything has been ok so unsure what causes the dropouts ,
